The Oppo Reno16 series is now in Kenya, but only as two phones: the Oppo Reno16 5G and the Oppo Reno16 F 5G. OPPO Kenya opened pre-orders on 26 October 2026, and there is no Reno16 Pro this time. Both models come in one version, 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. Mascom International in Nairobi has both in stock from KSh 68,800 (October 2026).

- At Mascom International, the Oppo Reno16 5G costs KSh 78,800 and the Oppo Reno16 F 5G costs KSh 68,800 (October 2026).
- Both have 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, down from 12GB and 512GB on the Reno15 and Reno14 phones sold in Kenya.
- Both share a 50MP main camera, a 50MP 3.5x zoom camera, 80W charging and IP68 and IP69 water and dust ratings.
What is new in the Oppo Reno16 series?
The Oppo Reno16 5G is the compact model, with a 6.32-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen and an aluminium frame. It runs the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 with LPDDR5X memory, a 6,700mAh battery and three 50MP rear cameras, including a 50MP ultrawide. It records 4K video at 60fps and supports eSIM.
The Oppo Reno16 F 5G has the bigger 6.57-inch screen and the bigger 7,000mAh battery. It runs MediaTek's Dimensity 7300-Energy with older LPDDR4X memory, has an 8MP ultrawide and takes a microSD card. Its biggest change, per tech-ish, is a 50MP 3.5x zoom camera in place of the Reno15 F's 2MP macro camera.
Both phones carry OPPO's 3D Pop Planet back in Pop White and Twilight Violet. The one-piece back runs into the camera bump, which OPPO says keeps dust off the lenses on Nairobi roads.
How does the Reno16 series differ from the Reno15 and Reno14 in Kenya?
Kenya gets a smaller Reno line-up this year. The Reno15 series came here as three phones, including the Oppo Reno15 Pro 5G. OPPO sells a Reno16 Pro in other markets, but has shipped only the Reno16 and Reno16 F to Kenya.
Memory and storage dropped as well. The Oppo Reno15 5G, Oppo Reno15 F 5G and Oppo Reno14 F 5G units we stocked at the Kimathi Street shop all came with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Both Reno16 models arrive with 8GB and 256GB. The Oppo Reno16 F 5G takes a memory card; the Oppo Reno16 5G does not, so heavy 4K video shooters will fill it faster.
The chip barely moved on the main model. Tech-ish confirms the Oppo Reno16 5G uses the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 as the Oppo Reno15 5G, which Mascom International still sells with 12GB and 512GB for KSh 68,000.

Prices change; each product page shows today's price. Our units are the Kenyan versions, CPH2865 and CPH2859. Tech-ish notes the European Reno16 has a smaller 6,000mAh battery, so check before buying an import. Both phones work on Safaricom 5G where it covers you.
Who should buy the Oppo Reno16 5G or the Oppo Reno16 F 5G?
Pick the Oppo Reno16 5G if you want a phone you can use with one hand on a matatu, a 50MP ultrawide for group photos, or smoother gaming. In OPPO's lab tests it runs Mobile Legends at 120fps against 90fps on the F.
Pick the Oppo Reno16 F 5G for video watching, the bigger battery and a memory card slot, with the same main, zoom and selfie cameras for KSh 10,000 less. Skip both if you need 512GB: the Oppo Reno15 5G gives more for less while stock lasts.
Our take
The Oppo Reno16 F 5G is the better buy in this series. The zoom camera that used to separate the main Reno from the F now sits on both. The Oppo Reno16 5G earns its extra KSh 10,000 only for buyers who want the smaller body, the sharper ultrawide or higher game frame rates.
