Mascom International stocks the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB at KSh 36,000, brand new and sealed, pairing a 1TB hard drive with 8GB of GDDR5 memory, HDR output and a DualShock 4 wireless controller. Sony built the PlayStation 4 Slim around an eight-core AMD Jaguar processor and a 1.84-teraflop Radeon-based graphics chip, in a body about 39 mm tall. Its Blu-ray drive plays game discs and films, while dual-band Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet handle downloads and online play. Pick up the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB from our showroom on the first floor of the Old Mutual Building, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD, or order it for delivery.
Built for players who download most of their games, the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB suits young professionals, university students and families with more than one gamer at home. The common complaint we hear from owners of smaller drives is the constant juggling: delete one title to fit the next, then wait hours to download it again. With 1TB, the PlayStation 4 Slim keeps a far larger set of games ready to play. A young professional in Westlands who grabs monthly PlayStation Plus titles, or a household where each child has favourites, avoids that routine entirely.
Where most Nairobi electronics shops offer whatever box is lying around, often opened and resealed, Mascom International supplies the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB factory sealed with a receipt and warranty card. Customers across Nairobi tell us the 1TB version is the one they wish they had bought first, since the extra KSh 2,000 over the 500GB version buys double the space. We open each box with you so you can see the console switch on. Walk into the Kimathi Street store to try the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB, or reserve one on WhatsApp for pay-on-arrival delivery.
Common Questions About the PlayStation 4 Slim
How much is the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB in Kenya?
The PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB costs KSh 36,000 brand new and sealed at Mascom International on Kimathi Street, Nairobi. For that amount you get the console, a DualShock 4 controller, HDMI and power cables, a charging cable and a 12-month warranty. Pay-on-arrival delivery reaches every county. The 500GB version sells for KSh 34,000, so the 1TB costs KSh 2,000 more for double the storage. The PlayStation 4 Pro, which adds 4K output and stronger graphics, costs KSh 42,000, or KSh 6,000 above this model.
Should I choose the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB or the PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition?
The PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB costs KSh 36,000, while the PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition costs KSh 100,000, a gap of KSh 64,000. The PlayStation 5 model has a 1TB SSD with far faster loading, 4K output and the DualSense controller, and it plays games made only for PlayStation 5. It has no disc drive, so every game is a download. The PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB reads discs, which keeps game costs low. Choose the Slim for value; choose the Digital Edition for new releases.
Will the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB hold up to heat and dust in Kenya?
The PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB handles Kenyan conditions well when it has open air around its vents. In dusty Nairobi estates, wipe the vents every few weeks and keep the console off the floor, where dust settles most. In humid Mombasa or Kisumu homes, avoid closed cabinets, which trap warm, damp air. Never block the back of the console against a wall. A surge protector shields it from the power spikes that often follow storms and restored supply.
Who should buy the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB, and who should skip it?
The PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB is for players who download often, households where several people keep their own games installed, and PlayStation Plus members. It suits a 1080p television or monitor. Skip it if you play mainly on a 4K or HDR screen, because the PlayStation 4 Pro at KSh 42,000 makes better use of that set. If you buy only discs and play one game at a time, the 500GB version at KSh 34,000 does the same job for less.
How many people can share one PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB?
A whole family can share the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB, because each person gets a separate user account with private saves, trophies and settings. The large drive lets everyone keep their own games installed without arguing over space. For local multiplayer, add extra DualShock 4 controllers, sold separately at Mascom International. Parents can make child accounts with age limits and play time settings. One owner can also share purchased digital games with other accounts on the same console.
Does the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB work with PlayStation Plus games?
Yes, the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB supports PlayStation Plus, which adds online multiplayer, cloud saves and a rotating set of games to download. Higher membership tiers unlock a large game catalogue, and that is where the 1TB drive pays off. You can keep many catalogue games installed rather than swapping them in and out. A PlayStation Network account and a payment method set up on the console are all you need. Each downloaded game stays playable while your membership remains active.
Can I use the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB with a computer monitor?
Yes, the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB connects to any computer monitor with an HDMI input and displays a full 1080p picture. Students at JKUAT and other campuses often use a desk monitor instead of buying a television. Many monitors have no speakers, so plug headphones into the DualShock 4 controller jack for sound. If your monitor only has DisplayPort or VGA, you will need an active adapter. A monitor with low input lag also feels more responsive in fast games.
Can I connect a headset or soundbar to the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB?
Yes, the PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB works with wired headsets through the 3.5mm jack on the DualShock 4 controller. Some USB and official wireless headsets connect directly to the console, but many generic Bluetooth earbuds will not pair. For a soundbar, connect it to your television's HDMI ARC port and the sound passes through. The PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB has no optical audio output, so check your soundbar's inputs before buying one for it.
Technical Specifications
Processor and Graphics
- Eight-core x86-64 AMD Jaguar CPU — the central processor that runs game logic, menus and background tasks for every PlayStation 4 title.
- Radeon-based graphics at 1.84 teraflops — one teraflop equals a trillion calculations a second, giving clean 1080p visuals on full-HD screens.
- 8GB GDDR5 unified memory — high-speed memory both chips share, so game worlds load smoothly while downloads continue in the background.
- Peak consumption of 165W — low enough for a modest UPS to keep the console alive through a short blackout.
- Accepts 100-240V at 50 or 60Hz — connects to a standard 240V wall socket with the supplied cord and no transformer.
- Rest mode — the console sleeps while downloading updates and charging controllers, then resumes your game in seconds.
Storage and Discs
- 1TB internal hard drive — double the 500GB model, keeping a large rotating set of games installed at the same time.
- Swappable 2.5-inch drive bay — fit a bigger hard drive or an SSD later for more room or quicker loading.
- External drive support over USB — add a plug-in drive and play games stored on it without moving them back.
- Blu-ray drive reading BD at 6x and DVD at 8x — plays game discs, Blu-ray films and DVD collections from one tray-free slot.
- Disc titles install to the hard drive — the disc then serves as your licence, while loading happens from internal storage.
- Saves back up to USB or cloud storage with PlayStation Plus — progress survives a drive swap or a console change.
Display Output
- HDMI output — connects to televisions, monitors and projectors with one cable; an HDMI cable comes in the box.
- HDR output — high dynamic range adds brighter skies and darker shadows on any television that supports it.
- 1080p full HD resolution — sharp and clear on typical living room televisions and desk monitors.
- Film and series apps — Netflix, YouTube and Prime Video stream on the console, so it doubles as the household media player.
- Remote Play to phones and computers — continue a game on another screen at home while the television is in use.
- Screenshot and clip capture through the Share button — save great moments and send them to friends straight from the console.
Controllers
- DualShock 4 wireless controller included — familiar layout with twin sticks, a clickable touchpad and motion sensing for compatible games.
- Coloured light bar — identifies each player in multiplayer and reacts to events in some games.
- Built-in controller speaker — plays small sound effects from the pad itself, adding detail during play.
- Stereo headset jack on the controller — use any wired headset for voice chat without extra cables to the console.
- USB-rechargeable battery — charge from the console's front ports while you keep playing on the supplied cable.
- Extra controllers pair in seconds — add pads, sold separately, for couch multiplayer with friends and family.
Connectivity
- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands — pick 5GHz near the router for quicker, steadier downloads.
- Gigabit Ethernet socket at 10/100/1000 Mbps — the most reliable connection for online matches and big game updates.
- Two front SuperSpeed USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports — charge controllers or run an external storage drive at fast transfer speeds.
- Bluetooth 4.0 — pairs DualShock 4 controllers and supported headsets wirelessly.
- Rear AUX port — connects the PlayStation Camera for motion-controlled games and broadcasting your play.
- Compact body of about 265 x 39 x 288 mm and 2.1 kg — sits neatly on a TV stand, shelf or desk.
