For most Kenyan homes, Kaspersky Standard for 5 devices at KSh 3,300 (November 2026) is enough. It adds a firewall, anti-phishing and banking protection to the core antivirus. Kaspersky Plus, at KSh 3,900 for 5 devices, adds a VPN and a password manager. Kaspersky Premium, at KSh 4,500, adds identity protection and Kaspersky Safe Kids. All three plans at Mascom International in Nairobi protect phones as well as computers.

Is Kaspersky only for computers?

No. Kaspersky Standard, Plus and Premium all install on Android phones and iPhones as well as Windows laptops and Macs. At our Kimathi Street counter, most buyers are surprised by this. Many buy a 1-device box for a laptop while their phone, the device they use for M-Pesa and mobile banking, stays unprotected.

The box holds one activation code. You enter it in your My Kaspersky account, then install the Kaspersky app on each phone or computer and sign in. The number on the box is the only limit. A family with two laptops and three phones needs the 5-device pack, and the Standard 5-device pack costs only KSh 500 more than the 1-device box.

What does Kaspersky Standard cover, and who is it for?

Kaspersky Standard covers everything most Kenyan users need day to day. Kaspersky's comparison lists file antivirus, Safe Browsing, mail scanning, exploit prevention and System Watcher, which rolls back ransomware changes. Standard also adds a firewall, anti-phishing, webcam protection and stalkerware detection. Safe Money opens bank and payment sites in a protected browser.

On Windows it includes PC Speed-Up, Game Mode and a battery saver. That helps an older office laptop or a student machine bought in Eldoret or Kisumu. The trade-off is clear: no VPN, no password manager and no backup tool. Kaspersky Standard suits buyers who browse mostly on home Wi-Fi or their Safaricom data and already manage passwords well.

What extra do you get with Kaspersky Plus?

Kaspersky Plus adds privacy and data tools on top of everything in Standard. The biggest is the VPN, which encrypts your connection on open Wi-Fi in cafes, hotels and campus networks. Mascom's Plus boxes list unlimited VPN, though Kaspersky notes VPN terms vary by region. VPN traffic still uses your Safaricom or Airtel Kenya bundle.

Plus also brings a password manager, Secret Vault for private files, a file shredder, Backup and Restore, and a Hard Drive Health Monitor. Devices on My Network shows every gadget on your home Wi-Fi. Plus is the right step for freelancers, students on campus Wi-Fi and anyone who reuses passwords. It is also the only plan with a VPN in 1-device and 3-device packs.

Is Kaspersky Premium worth the extra KSh 600?

Kaspersky Premium is worth it mainly for parents. It includes everything in Plus, then adds identity protection tools and a free year of Kaspersky Safe Kids, which manages screen time and blocks unsuitable content on a child's phone. Premium also adds Kaspersky's extra support services, which Kaspersky says are unavailable in some countries.

At KSh 4,500 for five devices, Premium works out to KSh 900 per device for the year. Mascom International stocks Premium only as a 5-device pack. A couple without children, or a single user, gets little from Premium that Plus does not already give.

Which Kaspersky should you buy, and when is none of them right?

None of the three home plans is built for an office with a shared file server. A clinic, accounting firm or SACCO branch with five workstations and a server should look at Kaspersky Small Office Security 5 users plus 1 file server, KSh 14,000 at Mascom International in November 2026.

Common questions

Can I install Kaspersky on my phone in Kenya?

Yes. Every Kaspersky Standard, Plus and Premium box sold at Mascom International covers Android phones and iPhones as well as computers. Activate the code in your My Kaspersky account, then install the Kaspersky app on the phone and sign in. Each phone uses one slot of your device count. A laptop and two phones fit the 3-device pack, which costs KSh 3,000 for Standard in November 2026.

Is Kaspersky Plus worth KSh 600 more than Standard for 5 devices?

Kaspersky Plus is worth the KSh 600 if you use public Wi-Fi or reuse passwords. Plus adds a VPN, a password manager, Secret Vault and Backup and Restore to everything in Standard. If your household browses mostly on home Wi-Fi or mobile data and already uses strong, separate passwords, Kaspersky Standard for 5 devices at KSh 3,300 covers the main threats.

What replaced Kaspersky Internet Security and Total Security?

Kaspersky renamed its home range. Kaspersky Anti-Virus became Kaspersky Standard, Kaspersky Internet Security became Kaspersky Plus, and Kaspersky Total Security became Kaspersky Premium. If you renewed Internet Security every year, Kaspersky Plus is the closest match. Old Total Security buyers who want the same family tools should pick Kaspersky Premium for 5 devices, KSh 4,500 at Mascom International in November 2026.

Which Kaspersky is best for a small office in Nairobi?

For an office of up to five computers with no server, Kaspersky Plus 5 devices at KSh 3,900 covers the PCs and staff phones. Once the office runs a shared file server, choose Kaspersky Small Office Security 5 users plus 1 file server, KSh 14,000 in November 2026. It protects the server too, which the home plans are not built for.
