Mascom International stocks the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor at KSh 2,500, an original Dell charger rated 19.5V and 4.62A with the 7.4x5.0mm big pin connector. Every unit is brand new and sealed. The Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor serves Dell laptops that call for 90W, typically models with dedicated graphics or quad-core processors, and it powers 65W models on the same plug too. It is ready for collection at our shop in Old Mutual Building, First Floor Room 4, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD, or for delivery anywhere in the country.
Built for developers, content creators, architects, accountants handling large files and IT departments across Kenya, this charger answers a specific problem. Higher-draw Dell laptops check what is plugged into them, and when the charger falls short or goes unrecognised, they can slow the processor, refuse to charge the battery or flash a warning at start-up. The Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor gives the laptop the full 90W it was designed around, together with the identity signal it looks for. That means full speed on mains power and a battery that keeps filling during long renders.
Where most Nairobi electronics shops cannot say for certain whether a charger is original, Mascom International sells this one as an original Dell unit and backs it with a written warranty. Buyers throughout Kenya report that switching to the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor cleared stubborn adapter warnings on their Latitude and Precision machines. Companies outfitting staff laptops in Upper Hill and Industrial Area choose the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor for the same reason. Bring your laptop to Kimathi Street to test it, or order through WhatsApp and pay when it arrives.
Common Questions About the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor
What is the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor price in Kenya?
Mascom International sells the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor for KSh 2,500, brand new, at our Kimathi Street shop in Nairobi CBD. The price includes the brick with its attached DC cable, a detachable mains cord and 6 months of warranty cover. Delivery anywhere in Kenya is pay-on-arrival. The Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor, a replacement with the same rating, costs KSh 1,800, while the Dell 65W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor costs the same KSh 2,500 for lighter laptops.
Is the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor worth KSh 700 more than the replacement?
For a laptop you rely on every day, the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor earns the extra KSh 700 over the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor. Both deliver 19.5V at 4.62A through the same 7.4x5.0mm plug. The original is Dell's own design, so the laptop recognises it exactly as intended, which matters on models that flag unknown chargers. The replacement, at KSh 1,800, makes sense as a spare or when budget comes first. Pick the original as your main charger and the replacement as a backup.
How do I know if my Dell laptop needs the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor?
Your Dell laptop needs the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor if its base label or old charger reads 19.5V with 4.62A or 90W, and it has the 7.4mm round plug. Laptops of this kind are usually older Latitude, Inspiron, Vostro, XPS or Precision models with dedicated graphics or quad-core chips. A laptop marked 65W also runs happily on it. If you are still unsure, WhatsApp your model or a photo of the old label to +254 708 852 521, and Mascom International will check.
Does the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor cope with Kenyan dust, heat and coastal humidity?
The Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor works reliably in Kenyan conditions with basic care. Its sealed, fanless brick has no vents for dust to clog, which helps on dusty sites and in upcountry workshops. In humid Mombasa and Malindi, store it in a dry bag and wipe the plug if moisture collects. In hot rooms, keep it off soft furnishings so it stays cool, and plug it into a surge protector to guard against spikes on the mains.
Is the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor the right charger for me, or should I look elsewhere?
The Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor is right for anyone whose Dell laptop needs 90W at 19.5V on the 7.4mm plug and who wants Dell's own unit. Heavy users, IT departments and owners of fussy Latitude or Precision models gain the most. Look elsewhere if your laptop charges by USB-C, uses the slim 4.5mm plug, or needs more than 90W. If cost matters more than origin, the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor at KSh 1,800 offers the same rating as a replacement.
Why does my Dell laptop say the AC adapter type cannot be determined?
Dell laptops show that message when they cannot read the identity signal sent through the thin centre pin of the 7.4mm plug. A bent pin, a damaged cable or a charger the laptop does not recognise can all trigger it, and some models then stop charging the battery or slow the processor. The Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor sends the signal Dell designed. Bring your laptop to Mascom International and we will check whether the charger or the laptop's power port is at fault.
Will the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor stop my laptop slowing down during heavy work?
If your laptop is rated for 90W, the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor lets it run at full speed on mains power. A higher-draw Dell laptop on a weaker or unrecognised charger may hold back its processor and graphics to save power, which shows up as lag in video editing, CAD or games. With the full 4.62A available and a recognised adapter, that limit lifts. Developers compiling code and creators exporting video notice the difference most.
Can I take the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor on trips outside Kenya?
Yes, the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor runs on any mains supply from 100V to 240V, so it works in Uganda, Tanzania, Dubai, Europe and beyond. You only need a simple plug converter where wall sockets differ, never a voltage transformer. It travels in hand luggage through JKIA without trouble. Pack the mains cord separately and coil the DC cable loosely so the plug end does not bend in a crowded overhead locker.
Technical Specifications
Core Function and Output Capacity
- 19.5V DC at 4.62A — the voltage and current Dell sets for its 90W big pin laptops, giving 90W in total.
- Full 90W delivery — covers the processor, graphics, screen and battery charging together, even during long stretches of heavy work.
- Dell identification signal — the centre pin reports the adaptor's 90W rating, so the laptop allows full charging and performance.
- 100-240V AC input at 50-60Hz — one charger for standard 240V mains, backup inverters and power supplies in other countries.
- Original Dell unit — designed and specified by Dell, sold brand new and sealed rather than refurbished or reboxed.
- Backward-compatible output — also drives 65W and 45W Dell laptops on the same plug, since each laptop draws only what it needs.
- Charging during use — the battery keeps climbing while you run design software, video calls or many browser tabs at once.
Compatibility Across Dell Ranges
- 7.4x5.0mm big pin plug — a round barrel 7.4mm wide with a 5.0mm opening that houses the thin identity pin.
- Common fit for older Latitude, Inspiron and Vostro laptops rated 90W — check for 19.5V on the base label first.
- Suits some XPS and Precision models of the same generation — our team confirms yours from the exact model name.
- Doubles as a stronger charger for 65W Dell laptops — they take the current they need and leave the rest unused.
- Not compatible with Dell's slimmer 4.5mm plug or USB-C laptops — those need adaptors with their own connectors.
- Not intended for workstations rated above 90W — they need a higher-wattage charger to run and charge at full pace.
- Pre-purchase check — WhatsApp a photo of your old charger's label to +254 708 852 521 for confirmation before paying.
Build and Original Construction
- Dell's own casing and cable — clean label printing and consistent moulding that match the rating stated on the brick.
- Sealed fanless brick — no vents for dust to enter and no moving parts, so it charges in complete silence.
- Strain-relief collars on both cable ends — firm rubber that spreads the bending load at the points most likely to wear.
- Detachable mains cord — keeps the brick compact in a laptop bag and lets you replace the cord separately.
- Protection circuitry — switches the output off during a short circuit or overload, shielding the laptop's charging port from damage.
- Black finish — Dell's standard colour, discreet on a boardroom table, a reception counter or a home study desk.
- Round, supple DC lead — curves easily around chair legs and bag straps without kinking the copper wires inside.
Inclusions and After-Sales Cover
- Brick with integrated DC lead — arrives as a single unit, ready to connect to your laptop the moment you unbox it.
- Separate mains power cord — runs from the brick to the wall socket and unplugs for storage.
