The Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor is in stock at Mascom International, priced at KSh 1,800, and supplies 19.5V at 4.62A through a 7.4x5.0mm big pin plug. It is a replacement adaptor for Dell laptops, brand new and sealed, sold to owners who need a working charger fast without paying for an original. The Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor covers the higher-draw Dell models that shipped with a 90W brick, and it also runs 65W models with the same plug. Pick one up at Old Mutual Building, First Floor Room 4, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD.
Designed for field engineers, journalists, NGO field staff and students with an older Dell laptop that has dedicated graphics or a quad-core chip, the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor keeps those heavier machines charged under load. A laptop that needs 90W but sits on a weaker charger often drains its battery even while plugged in, which ruins an afternoon of editing or design work. With 4.62A available, this adaptor covers the full demand, so the battery climbs while you work. Many buyers also keep a Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor as a second charger at the office.
Unlike other electronics retailers in Kenya that sell unlabelled chargers with no comeback, Mascom International names this unit plainly as a replacement and backs it with a written warranty. Customers across Nairobi tell us the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor is the sensible pick when a charger dies near the end of the month and money is tight. Buyers who want Dell's own unit can choose the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor from the same shelf. Visit us with your laptop to test the fit, or order on WhatsApp for pay-on-arrival delivery.
Common Questions About the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor
How much is the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor in Kenya?
The Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor sells for KSh 1,800 brand new at Mascom International on Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD. For that amount you receive the adaptor with its fixed DC cable, a detachable mains cord and a 6-month warranty. You pay on arrival, by cash or M-Pesa, once the parcel is in your hands. The Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor costs KSh 2,500, so this replacement saves you KSh 700 for the same 19.5V 4.62A rating.
Should I save KSh 700 with the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor or pay for the original?
The Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor and the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor share the same 19.5V 4.62A output and 7.4x5.0mm plug. The difference is origin and price: the original is Dell's own unit at KSh 2,500, while this replacement costs KSh 1,800. Choose the replacement for a spare charger, a tight budget or an ageing laptop. Choose the original if your laptop is fussy about chargers, or you want Dell's own build for daily heavy use.
Will the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor charge my Dell Latitude or Inspiron?
The Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor charges Dell laptops rated for 19.5V that use the 7.4x5.0mm big pin plug. Those include many older Latitude, Inspiron and Vostro models, and some XPS and Precision machines from the same era. Look for 19.5V and 4.62A, or 90W, on your laptop's base label or the old charger. To be certain, WhatsApp your laptop model or a photo of the old adaptor label to +254 708 852 521, and Mascom International will confirm before sending it.
Can I run the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor on a solar inverter or generator during blackouts?
Yes, the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor accepts 100V to 240V, so it runs on most home solar inverters and generators used during KPLC blackouts. A pure sine wave inverter is the gentler choice, because cheaper modified-wave units can make adaptors hum and run hotter. Generators often spike when they start or run low on fuel, so connect the charger only after the generator settles, and put a surge protector between them. This setup suits upcountry homes and small offices on backup power.
Who should buy the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor, and who is it not for?
Buy the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor if your Dell laptop takes the 7.4mm plug, needs up to 90W, and you want a working charger at a modest price. It also suits offices stocking spare chargers for several Dell machines. It is not for laptops with USB-C charging, which need the Dell 65W USB-C Laptop Adaptor, or for workstations that demand more than 90W. If your laptop rejects non-original chargers, the Dell 90W 7.4mm Original Laptop Adaptor is the safer buy.
Can the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor power a laptop that came with a 65W charger?
Yes, the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor safely powers a Dell laptop that shipped with a 65W charger, provided the voltage and plug match. The laptop draws only the current it needs, so the extra capacity sits unused and does no harm. That makes it a handy single charger for an office or family with a mix of 65W and 90W Dell machines. The reverse does not hold, because a 65W charger cannot fully supply a 90W laptop.
How do I make the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor last longer?
Handle the cable gently and the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor will give you years of daily charging. Most failures start where the cable meets the plug or the brick, so never pull it out by the wire or wind it tightly. Keep the brick off carpets and beds so it can shed heat. Wipe dust from the plug end now and then, avoid stepping on the cord under a desk, and store it loosely coiled on matatu trips.
Is the Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor a good spare charger for the office?
The Dell 90W 7.4mm Laptop Adaptor works well as a spare, because KSh 1,800 is a small price for never carrying a charger between home and work. Leave your main charger at home and keep this one under your desk in Upper Hill or Westlands, or the other way round. IT teams supporting several Dell laptops can keep a few on hand for staff who forget theirs. Ask Mascom International about pricing for multiple units when you message us.
Technical Specifications
Core Function and Electrical Rating
- 19.5V DC output — the standard voltage for Dell laptops with the 7.4mm plug, matching what the laptop's charging circuit expects.
- 4.62A rated current — multiplying 19.5 by 4.62 gives 90W, enough for laptops with dedicated graphics running hard all day.
- 90W capacity — runs the laptop and refills the battery at the same time, even during video editing or heavy spreadsheet work.
- 100-240V AC input at 50-60Hz — runs on standard 240V mains, backup inverters and foreign power without a voltage converter.
- Brand new stock — never used or refurbished, so you start with fresh cables, a clean plug and an unmarked casing.
- Replacement adaptor for Dell laptops — carries the same output rating as the 90W original, at KSh 700 less.
- Steady supply under load — designed to hold 19.5V as the laptop's demand rises, so charging does not stop mid-task.
Compatibility and Plug Fit
- 7.4x5.0mm big pin connector — a wide round barrel 7.4mm across and 5.0mm inside, with a thin centre pin in the middle.
- Suits many older Dell Latitude, Inspiron and Vostro laptops — confirm 19.5V on your laptop's base label before ordering.
- Matches some XPS and Precision models of the same generation — send your model on WhatsApp so we can check it for you.
- Runs 65W Dell laptops with the same plug — the laptop takes only the current it needs from the 90W supply.
- Not for the slim 4.5mm Dell plug or USB-C laptops — those need adaptors with a different connector from our range.
- Not enough for workstations rated above 90W — those machines need a higher-wattage charger to avoid slow charging.
- In-store fit test — bring your laptop to Kimathi Street and check that the plug seats firmly and charging starts.
Build Quality and Protection
- Two-piece layout — fixed DC cable on the brick, plus a mains cord that unplugs for packing in a bag or replacing.
- Black casing — keeps a low profile on a desk and does not show grime from daily handling quickly.
- Rubber collars at the brick and plug — sleeves that spread bending stress where cable wires usually wear out first.
- Silent running — no fan inside, so the brick makes no noise and only warms up when the laptop draws heavy power.
- Printed rating label — voltage, current and wattage appear on the brick, so you can compare them with your laptop's needs.
- Fresh cable insulation — new, unworn outer sheathing protects the copper inside, unlike a second-hand charger with hidden cracks.
Inclusions and Buyer Support
- Adaptor with fixed DC cable — the brick and laptop lead arrive joined together, ready to charge straight away.
- Detachable mains cord — connects the brick to the wall and can be replaced on its own if it gets damaged.
- Plug type checked on request — we confirm the mains plug on WhatsApp before dispatch so it fits your socket.
- 6-month warranty from Mascom International — covers manufacturing defects, with claims handled at our Nairobi CBD service desk.
