The UGREEN AV144 USB-C to Dual 3.5mm Audio Adapter is in stock at Mascom International, priced at KSh 1,200, brand new and sealed in Space Gray. It splits one USB-C port into two 3.5mm female jacks, so two sets of wired earphones can play the same sound at once. The 25cm lead is wrapped in braided nylon, and the adapter is plug-and-play, needing no driver or app. Mascom International sells the UGREEN AV144 USB-C to Dual 3.5mm Audio Adapter from our first-floor shop in the Old Mutual Building, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD.
Designed for couples, friends and families who share one screen, the UGREEN AV144 USB-C to Dual 3.5mm Audio Adapter handles the moment one person wants to watch and another wants to join in. Without it, one phone speaker fills a quiet bus, or two people share a single pair of earbuds, one bud each. With the UGREEN AV144 USB-C to Dual 3.5mm Audio Adapter, both listeners get full stereo in their own earphones. It suits a film on the overnight bus to Mombasa, a revision video for two Moi University classmates, or a cartoon for two children on one tablet.
Unlike other electronics retailers in Kenya that stock unbranded splitters of unknown quality, Mascom International sells the genuine UGREEN AV144 USB-C to Dual 3.5mm Audio Adapter with 6 months of warranty cover. Buyers throughout Kenya report that the cheap splitters sold at bus stages often play sound in one jack only. We prefer to plug the UGREEN AV144 USB-C to Dual 3.5mm Audio Adapter into your own phone at the counter and let you hear both jacks working before you pay. Visit us on Kimathi Street, or order on WhatsApp for pay-on-arrival delivery anywhere in the country.
Common Questions About the UGREEN AV144 USB-C to Dual 3.5mm Audio Adapter
What is the UGREEN AV144 USB-C to Dual 3.5mm Audio Adapter price in Kenya?
The UGREEN AV144 USB-C to Dual 3.5mm Audio Adapter sells for KSh 1,200 brand new at Mascom International in Nairobi CBD. The price includes the 25cm Space Gray adapter and a 6-month warranty against manufacturing defects. Earphones are sold separately. Delivery is pay-on-arrival to all 47 counties, so you hand over the money only once the adapter is in your hands. The single-jack UGREEN AV142 costs KSh 1,000, so the second jack and longer lead add KSh 200.
How does the UGREEN AV144 compare with the UGREEN AV142?
The UGREEN AV144 gives two 3.5mm jacks on a 25cm braided nylon lead, while the UGREEN AV142 gives one jack on a 10cm lead in an aluminium housing. The AV142 lists support for both OMTP and CTIA earphone wiring, which matters for headsets with a microphone; the AV144 listing does not mention it. Pick the AV144 at KSh 1,200 if two people will listen together. Pick the AV142 at KSh 1,000 for solo listening, calls on a wired headset, or the shortest lead.
Can two people listen at the same time with the UGREEN AV144?
Yes, the UGREEN AV144 sends the same audio to both 3.5mm jacks, so two people hear one film, song or lesson together. Each person plugs in their own wired earphones and gets full stereo, rather than one earbud each from a shared pair. Volume is set by the phone, so both listeners hear the same level. If one pair of earphones is much louder than the other, the quieter listener may want a pair with similar sensitivity, which our staff can help you match.
Does the UGREEN AV144 have a microphone input for calls?
UGREEN describes the AV144 jacks as two headphone outputs, and its product details list no dedicated microphone input. Treat it as a listening adapter for music, video and lessons rather than a call adapter. If you need your headset microphone to work on WhatsApp calls, Zoom meetings or Microsoft Teams, the UGREEN AV142 lists OMTP and CTIA headset support and is the safer choice. Mascom International can test either adapter with your own headset at our Kimathi Street shop before you buy.
Is the UGREEN AV144 good for long bus trips across Kenya?
The UGREEN AV144 suits long road trips because two travellers can watch one downloaded film without disturbing the rest of the bus. Download shows on Safaricom or Airtel data before you leave, since signal fades on stretches of the Nairobi to Mombasa or Nairobi to Kisumu roads. Remember the adapter occupies your only USB-C port, so you cannot charge while it is plugged in. Start with a full battery and carry a power bank for the stops, especially if KPLC cut power the night before.
Does the UGREEN AV144 need drivers or an app to work?
The UGREEN AV144 is plug-and-play, so it needs no driver, app or settings change on phones, tablets and laptops that support USB-C audio. Plug it in, connect the earphones and press play. Because every manufacturer routes sound through the USB-C port in its own way, some devices do not output audio through adapters at all. Send your phone or tablet model to Mascom International on WhatsApp before ordering, or bring the device to Kimathi Street and we will test it.
Is the UGREEN AV144 useful for parents with two children on one tablet?
The UGREEN AV144 lets two children watch the same cartoon or learning video on one USB-C tablet, each with their own earphones. That keeps the sitting room or matatu quiet and ends the fight over who holds the single pair. The 25cm lead gives each child a little room to sit apart. For young children, choose volume-limited kids' earphones and set the tablet volume low first, since both jacks play at the same level and the adapter has no volume control.
Who should buy the UGREEN AV144, and who should skip it?
Buy the UGREEN AV144 if two people regularly share one phone, tablet or laptop for films, music or study videos. Couples, travelling friends, classmates and parents get the most from it. Skip it if you usually listen alone, because the single-jack UGREEN AV142 costs KSh 200 less and sits closer to the phone. Skip it also if you mainly need a headset microphone for calls; the AV142 is the better fit. If your device fails our test, Bluetooth earphones are the alternative.
Technical Specifications
Core Function
- USB-C male to two 3.5mm female jacks — one port on your device feeds two pairs of wired earphones at once.
- Two headphone outputs — both jacks carry the same sound, so two listeners hear the same film or song together.
- Full stereo in each jack — every listener gets left and right channels instead of sharing one earbud from a pair.
- Plug-and-play — no driver, app or setting to change; connect it and audio follows on supported USB-C devices.
- Wired connection — no Bluetooth pairing, no wireless delay and no earbud batteries to charge before a long trip.
- Shared volume — the phone or tablet sets the level for both jacks, since the adapter carries no volume buttons.
- One port in use — the adapter occupies the device's USB-C socket, so charging has to wait until you unplug it.
Compatibility
- USB-C phones, tablets and laptops — UGREEN lists these as supported hosts; sound output depends on each device's own USB-C audio support.
- Standard 3.5mm plugs — accepts the common earphone plug found on most wired earphones and many over-ear headphones.
- Listening focus — UGREEN lists two headphone outputs and no dedicated microphone input, so plan around listening rather than calls.
- Speakers and car stereos — either jack can feed an AUX input through a separate male-to-male 3.5mm cable.
- Large studio plugs — 6.35mm headphone plugs need their own converter before they fit either 3.5mm jack.
- Mixed earphones — any two wired pairs work together, though a more sensitive pair will sound louder at the same setting.
- Test before you buy — Mascom International checks the adapter on your exact phone or tablet at our Kimathi Street counter.
Build
- 25cm length — enough slack for two people sitting side by side to hold earphones without tugging the phone.
- Braided nylon outer layer — a woven sleeve that resists kinks and fraying better than a bare rubber lead.
- Nylon shielding — an extra wrapped layer around the wires that helps protect the conductors from repeated bending.
- Space Gray finish — a dark neutral colour that matches most phone cases and laptop bodies without standing out.
- Y-shaped split — the lead divides into two short arms, so each listener's plug sits apart from the other.
- Care tip — unplug by gripping the plug heads, not the lead, to protect the joints where the wires enter.
- Dust care — Nairobi street dust settles in open jacks, so a quick puff of air before plugging in keeps contacts clean.
