Sunset Overdrive is in stock at Mascom International, priced at KSh 4,500 for a brand new and sealed Xbox One physical disc of Insomniac Games' open-world action shooter. Published by Microsoft Studios and first released on 30 October 2014, Sunset Overdrive still carries the "Only on Xbox One" banner on its cover. The disc plays on any Xbox One with a drive and on the Xbox Series X through backward compatibility. You can pick up Sunset Overdrive at our shop on the first floor of Old Mutual Building, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD, and check the seal before you pay.
Designed for players who find most shooters too grey and too serious, Sunset Overdrive turns its city into a playground. The year is 2027, and a bad batch of energy drink has turned much of the population into mutants. You survive by grinding on power lines, bouncing off car roofs and running along walls between shots, so standing still is the real danger. University students at Kenyatta and Strathmore looking for something lighter than a war game will find the jokes land quickly. The story campaign plays offline, which matters when home internet drops during a rainy Nairobi evening.
Where many Nairobi game stalls sell loose second-hand discs with no history, Mascom International stocks Sunset Overdrive brand new and factory sealed. Customers across Nairobi tell us they come to us for older Xbox One titles that have become hard to find on local shelves. Buyers throughout Kenya pay on arrival when Sunset Overdrive reaches their door, so ordering from Mombasa or Eldoret carries no upfront risk. Call or WhatsApp before you visit and we will hold a copy for you at the Kimathi Street counter.
Common Questions About Sunset Overdrive
How much is Sunset Overdrive for Xbox One in Kenya?
Sunset Overdrive costs KSh 4,500 brand new and sealed at Mascom International on Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD. That price covers the physical Xbox One disc in its original case and our 6-month warranty against disc defects. There is no download code to redeem and no extra fee to start the story campaign. Delivery is pay-on-arrival across Kenya, so you check the seal before you hand over cash or send M-Pesa. Online co-op needs a separate Xbox subscription, explained below.
Does Sunset Overdrive play on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S?
Sunset Overdrive plays on the Xbox Series X through backward compatibility, but the Xbox Series S cannot run it from disc. The Series S has no disc drive, so no physical game of any kind will load on it. On a Series X you insert the disc, let it install and accept any update the console offers. Mascom International sells both the Xbox Series X 1TB and the Xbox Series S, so ask us which one suits a disc collection before you buy.
Can I play Sunset Overdrive offline in Kenya?
Yes, the Sunset Overdrive story campaign plays without an internet connection once the disc has installed. That helps in Kenya, where home fibre from Safaricom or Airtel can drop during heavy rain. Online co-op and multiplayer, which Microsoft lists for 2 to 8 players, need a live connection and a paid Xbox Game Pass Essential plan, the tier that replaced Xbox Live Gold. Run any first update over home Wi-Fi rather than a mobile data bundle, then play the campaign wherever the console sits.
Sunset Overdrive or Payday 2 Crimewave Edition: which Xbox game should I buy?
Sunset Overdrive suits players who want a colourful solo story with fast movement, while Payday 2 Crimewave Edition suits friends who want to plan heists together. Sunset Overdrive rewards grinding, bouncing and strange weapons in an open city, and its humour rarely takes anything seriously. Payday 2 is built around co-op robberies, stealth and loud shootouts with a crew. If you mostly play alone after work, pick Sunset Overdrive. If your friends meet online every weekend, Payday 2 is the better fit.
Is Sunset Overdrive worth buying in 2026?
Sunset Overdrive is worth buying in 2026 if you want an Xbox shooter that feels nothing like the military games filling most shelves. Its traversal still stands out years after release, because you score more by staying on the move than by hiding behind cover. The cartoon art style has aged well since it never chased realism. You also keep the disc, so you can lend it to a friend or sell it later, which a digital download does not allow.
What age rating does Sunset Overdrive carry, and is it suitable for children?
Sunset Overdrive is rated 16+ on Microsoft's Xbox store for strong violence and strong language. The bright cartoon look can make it seem younger than it is, so parents should know the jokes and swearing are written for older teens and adults. Enemies include mutants, robots and rival human gangs, and the shooting rarely pauses. For a younger child, ask the Mascom International team in Nairobi CBD about family-friendly Xbox titles before choosing this one.
Who should buy Sunset Overdrive and who should skip it?
Sunset Overdrive is for Xbox One and Xbox Series X owners who enjoy fast movement, bright colours and comedy in their shooters. Skip it if you own only an Xbox Series S, since the disc will not load on that console. Skip it too if you want realistic gunplay or a serious story; Red Dead Redemption on Xbox gives you a slower, grounded western instead. Players who mainly want football should look at EA Sports FC 26, which Mascom International also stocks on Xbox.
How many players does Sunset Overdrive support online?
Sunset Overdrive supports online co-op and online multiplayer for 2 to 8 players, according to Microsoft's Xbox store listing. Every player needs their own console, their own copy of the game and an active Xbox Game Pass Essential plan. There is no split-screen, so two people sharing one television cannot play together on a single console. A steady fibre line, such as those common in Kilimani and Westlands, gives the smoothest group sessions.
Technical Specifications
Gameplay and Core Function
- Open-world action shooter by Insomniac Games — you roam the whole city freely instead of following fixed corridor levels.
- Grinding, wall-running and bouncing traversal — movement is your defence, because enemies hit hardest when you stop in one place.
- Story set in 2027 — a tainted energy drink turns citizens into mutants, and you fight your way out with humour.
- Inventive weapons with upgrades — guns fire vinyl records and explosive teddy bears, and upgrades change how each one behaves.
- Character customisation — you pick your hero's look and outfits, so your character stands apart from other players online.
- Single-player campaign — the full story plays on your own and offline once the disc has installed.
Compatibility
- Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X — the disc runs natively on any of these consoles with a working drive.
- Xbox Series X — plays through backward compatibility, so moving to a newer console does not retire this disc.
- Xbox Series S and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition — neither has a disc drive, so this physical copy cannot load.
- Xbox Wireless Controller — the standard controller works, and Mascom International stocks spares for a second player in the house.
- Region-free Xbox One disc — a copy bought in Nairobi plays on Xbox One consoles brought in from abroad.
- First-launch update — the console may ask to download a patch, which is best done over home Wi-Fi.
Online Features
- Online co-op for 2 to 8 players — friends team up across the city to clear missions together.
- Online multiplayer for 2 to 8 players — listed by Microsoft alongside co-op on the official Xbox store page.
- Xbox Game Pass Essential required online — this paid Microsoft plan replaced Xbox Live Gold for console multiplayer.
- No split-screen — each person needs a separate console and copy, so couch co-op on one screen is not possible.
- Optional in-app purchases — the store lists add-on content, sold separately and not needed to finish the main story.
Build and Rating
- Physical Blu-ray disc — Xbox One games ship on Blu-ray, which the console reads directly with no code to redeem.
- Factory-sealed retail case — the shrink-wrap stays intact until you open it, proving the disc is unused.
- "Only on Xbox One" cover — the original console-exclusive branding printed by Microsoft Studios at release.
- Rated 16+ — Microsoft's store flags strong violence and strong language, so it suits older teens and adults.
- Developer Insomniac Games, publisher Microsoft Studios — the same studio behind Ratchet and Clank and Marvel's Spider-Man.
- Release date 30 October 2014 — the game has had years of play on Xbox One, with its mechanics well documented.
Inclusions
- The complete game on an Xbox One disc — everything needed for the story installs from the disc itself.
- Retail case with printed cover art — protects the disc and stacks neatly with the rest of your Xbox shelf.
- No subscription included — Xbox Game Pass Essential for online play is bought separately from Microsoft.
- Console and controller not included — Mascom International sells the Xbox Series X 1TB and Xbox Wireless Controller separately.
- Mascom International receipt — your proof of purchase for the 6-month disc warranty, so keep it with the case.
Package Contents
Sunset Overdrive arrives in its factory-sealed Xbox One retail case, with the game disc inside and the original "Only on Xbox One" cover art on the sleeve. We do not open or reseal stock, so you break the wrap yourself, at our counter or at your door. No console, controller, subscription or download code comes in the box. If you need a second controller for the sofa, the Xbox Wireless Controller is sold separately at Mascom International, and a quick WhatsApp message confirms current stock.
Warranty
Sunset Overdrive ships with a 6-month warranty through Mascom International, covering manufacturing defects in the disc under normal use, such as a fresh copy that will not read on a working console. Claims are handled at our Nairobi CBD service desk on Kimathi Street, so bring the disc and your receipt.
