Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition is in stock at Mascom International, priced at KSh 5,000, brand new and sealed. This Xbox disc from Rockstar Games plays on the Xbox 360 and, as the cover states, on the Xbox One, and it also runs on the disc-drive Xbox Series X through backward compatibility. Red Dead Redemption puts you in the boots of John Marston, a former outlaw hunting his old gang across the American frontier in 1911. The Game of the Year Edition adds the Undead Nightmare campaign and every downloadable pack on one disc, ready to collect from our Kimathi Street shop in Nairobi CBD.
Designed for players who prefer a story with weight over endless online grinding, Red Dead Redemption suits adult gamers, film fans who love westerns, and anyone who skipped it when it first came out. Many Kenyan households still keep an Xbox 360 in the sitting room beside a newer Xbox One, and finding a sealed game that works on both is hard. Red Dead Redemption solves that, so the same copy moves between consoles as you upgrade. The campaign runs fully offline, which helps in estates where home fibre stalls during the long rains.
Unlike other electronics retailers in Kenya that only carry the latest releases, Mascom International keeps classic Rockstar Games titles such as Red Dead Redemption in sealed retail stock. At Mascom International, we're seeing steady demand from buyers who finished Red Dead Redemption 2 and want the story of John Marston that follows it. Customers tell us they value testing a backward-compatible disc on a console in the shop before paying. Visit us in the Old Mutual Building, or order on WhatsApp and pay when the parcel arrives in Westlands, Kisumu or Eldoret.
Common Questions About Red Dead Redemption
How much is Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition for Xbox in Kenya?
Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition for Xbox costs KSh 5,000 at Mascom International in Nairobi CBD, brand new and factory sealed. The price covers the disc in its retail case, every expansion and bonus pack from the original release, a 6-month warranty against disc defects, and pay-on-arrival delivery across Kenya. You pay nothing extra to play the story or Undead Nightmare. Grand Theft Auto V for Xbox One sells at the same KSh 5,000 in this range.
Should I buy Red Dead Redemption or Red Dead Redemption 2?
Buy Red Dead Redemption if you own an Xbox and want the original story of John Marston; buy Red Dead Redemption 2 if you play on PS4. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel set years earlier, following Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang, with a far larger map. Red Dead Redemption is shorter, more focused, and comes with the Undead Nightmare campaign included. Mascom International stocks Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 only, so Xbox owners should start here.
What does the Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition include?
The Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition includes the full story plus all the downloadable content released for it. That covers the Undead Nightmare campaign and its multiplayer modes, the Legends and Killers Pack, the Liars and Cheats Pack, and the Hunting and Trading Outfits Pack. It also adds the Outlaws To The End co-op missions, the Myths and Mavericks Bonus Pack, the Solomon's Folly hideout, and the Deadly Assassin Outfit, War Horse and Golden Guns bonuses.
Does Red Dead Redemption play on Xbox One and Xbox Series X?
Yes, Red Dead Redemption is on the Xbox backward compatibility list, so this disc plays on any Xbox One with a drive and on the standard Xbox Series X. Insert the disc and the console downloads the compatible version, then uses the disc as your proof of ownership. It runs with sharper visuals on Xbox One X and Series X than on the original Xbox 360. Consoles without a disc drive, such as the Xbox Series S, cannot read it.
Will Red Dead Redemption work on an old Xbox 360 and during power cuts in Kenya?
Yes, Red Dead Redemption plays natively on any working Xbox 360, which many Kenyan families still use alongside newer consoles. The story needs no internet, so a dead Safaricom or Airtel router does not stop you riding out. During KPLC power cuts, the game saves when you sleep at a safehouse or camp and at mission checkpoints. Save often before long rides, or connect the Xbox to a UPS unit from Mascom International so it shuts down safely.
What is Undead Nightmare in Red Dead Redemption?
Undead Nightmare is a separate single-player campaign inside Red Dead Redemption, where a zombie plague spreads across the frontier. John Marston hunts for a cure while defending towns, using holy water, fire and new weapons against the undead. It reuses the main map with a darker, horror-comedy tone and its own creatures, including mythical horses. On the original release it was paid downloadable content, but the Game of the Year Edition at Mascom International includes it on the disc.
Can friends play Red Dead Redemption together?
Red Dead Redemption supports online multiplayer, including six Outlaws To The End co-op missions for up to four players. Online play on Xbox needs internet and a paid Xbox Game Pass plan with online multiplayer. Expect far fewer players online today than at launch, so the story campaign is the main reason to buy. There is no split-screen mode, so friends cannot share one television. For regular online sessions with friends in Kenya, Grand Theft Auto V suits better.
Who should buy Red Dead Redemption, and who should skip it?
Buy Red Dead Redemption if you own an Xbox 360, Xbox One or disc-drive Xbox Series X and want a finished, story-led western with no microtransactions. Skip it if your console is an Xbox Series S or another all-digital model, since it has no drive to read the disc. Skip it as well if you are under 17, because it carries a mature rating. Players who want busy online lobbies should choose Grand Theft Auto V for Xbox One instead.

Disc and Licence
- Physical retail disc — the case artwork confirms it plays on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles.
- Disc as licence — on Xbox One and Series X, keep the disc in the drive to start the game.
- Saves on the console — progress stays on the console's storage and the Xbox cloud, separate for each console generation.
- Age rating — Mature 17+ or PEGI 18 depending on print region, for blood, gore, strong language and violence.
- Factory shrink-wrap — the sealed case shows the disc has never been installed, played or traded before.

Multiplayer and Online Features
- Free roam — ride the open map with other players online, forming posses and taking on gang hideouts together.
- Competitive modes — shootouts, gang matches and capture modes for groups, using characters unlocked as you rank up.
- Co-op missions — the Outlaws To The End pack adds six story-style missions for up to four players working as one posse.
- Undead Overrun — the zombie survival mode from Undead Nightmare, where a posse holds off waves of the undead together.
- Online requirements — internet plus a paid Xbox Game Pass plan with online multiplayer, on both Xbox 360 and newer consoles.
- Quieter lobbies today — online player numbers are much smaller than at launch, so treat multiplayer as a bonus.
