The Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router is in stock at Mascom International, priced at KSh 6,300, with a built-in screen, 4G LTE Cat 4 and Wi-Fi 6 for up to 10 users. Every unit is brand new and sealed, and this model comes in White. Made by Porodo, a Dubai-based mobile accessories brand, the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router is rated for downloads up to 150 Mbps and runs on a 3000mAh battery. Visit our shop at the Old Mutual Building, First Floor Room 4, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD, and test it with your own SIM card.
Designed for university students, consultants, estate agents and small business owners, the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router handles shared internet wherever a fixed line is missing or down. Running a phone hotspot all day overheats the handset and cuts the connection every time a call rings. This router takes over that job, so your phone stays free for calls and M-Pesa payments. A student sharing a flat near Strathmore or USIU can split one data bundle across laptops, while a consultant keeps a client meeting online in a Westlands café.
Unlike other electronics retailers in Kenya that sell grey-market hotspots with no local support, Mascom International stocks the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router with a full warranty and a counter you can walk up to. At Mascom International, we're seeing more buyers choose a dedicated router after a few months of draining their phone battery on hotspot duty. The Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router fits in a shirt pocket and supports more users than most phone hotspots. Come in to try it before you pay, or order on WhatsApp for delivery anywhere in Kenya.
Common Questions About the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router
What is the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router price in Kenya?
The Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router sells for KSh 6,300 at Mascom International in Nairobi CBD, brand new in a sealed box. The price includes a 12-month warranty and pay-on-arrival delivery across Kenya, so you inspect the router before paying. If you also want to charge your phone from the same gadget, the Porodo 4G MiFi Power Bank costs KSh 7,800, which is KSh 1,500 more for its 10000mAh battery and charging outputs.
Which Kenyan networks work with the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router?
The Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router supports LTE bands B1, B3, B7, B8 and B20 on FDD-LTE, plus B38, B40 and B41 on TDD-LTE. Those are the band numbers to check against Safaricom, Airtel Kenya and Telkom, and Mascom International tests your SIM in the unit before you buy. Note that it takes a Micro SIM (the 3FF size), so a Nano SIM needs an adapter. Most Kenyan SIM packs are triple-cut, so the original card often pops out to the Micro size.
How many people can use the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router at the same time?
Up to 10 users can join the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router at once, according to Porodo. Porodo rates the Wi-Fi signal distance at about 10 metres, which covers a living room, a small office or a shared hostel room in Kilimani. Beyond that, walls and distance weaken the link, so keep the router near the people using it. Laptops on Windows, macOS and Linux connect like they would to any home Wi-Fi network, with no software to install.
How fast is the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router on 4G?
The Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router is rated for 4G downloads up to 150 Mbps and uploads up to 50 Mbps under LTE Category 4. Cat 4 is simply the LTE class that sets those top speeds. Real speeds depend on your network, signal strength and how many people share the tower near you. For typical use, that is enough for video meetings, online classes, cloud backups and HD streaming, with the connection shared across several devices instead of one.
Is the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router safe for M-Pesa and banking apps?
The Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router supports WPA, WPA2 and WPA3 encryption, so your Wi-Fi network sits behind a password. WPA3 is the newest Wi-Fi security standard and makes password guessing much harder than older methods. That matters when you open M-Pesa, KCB, Equity or other Kenyan banking apps over the hotspot. Set a strong password on first use, share it only with people you trust, and your data bundle stays out of reach of neighbours.
How does the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router handle charging and KPLC power cuts?
The Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router runs on a built-in 3000mAh battery, so it keeps working when KPLC power drops and your home router goes off. It charges at 5V/1A, a modest input that accepts almost any phone charger or laptop USB port. For longer outages, plug it into a power bank such as the Porodo 20000mAh Solar Power Bank, which sells at Mascom International for KSh 7,800. Charge it fully overnight so a morning outage does not catch you short.
Should I buy the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router or the Porodo 4G MiFi Power Bank?
Pick the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router at KSh 6,300 when internet is your only need, and the Porodo 4G MiFi Power Bank at KSh 7,800 when your phone also runs low. The NEXFI has a built-in screen, takes 10 users against 8, offers a microSD slot and supports WPA3. The power bank model trades those for a 10000mAh battery with USB-C, USB-A and built-in Lightning and Type-C cables. Office-bound users choose the NEXFI; heavy travellers usually prefer the combined unit.
Who is the Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router for, and who should look elsewhere?
The Porodo NEXFI Portable WiFi Router suits students, freelancers, small teams and families who want one data bundle shared across several devices. It is also a sensible backup line for a small shop when the fibre connection fails. Look elsewhere if you travel for long days far from power, because 3000mAh is a small battery; the Porodo 4G MiFi Power Bank carries far more charge. A busy office with more than 10 users needs a fixed router instead.
Technical Specifications
Core Function: 4G Network and Speed
- 4G LTE Category 4 — rated for downloads up to 150 Mbps, which handles video calls and streaming on shared devices.
- Uploads up to 50 Mbps — sending large files, photos and cloud backups does not crawl the way it does on 3G.
- FDD-LTE bands B1 (2100MHz), B3 (1800MHz), B7 (2600MHz), B8 (900MHz) and B20 (800MHz) — the frequency ranges the router listens on.
- TDD-LTE bands B38, B40 and B41 — a second LTE type that some networks run alongside FDD for extra capacity.
- ZTE7520V3T processor — the chip that manages the 4G modem and Wi-Fi, made by the Chinese network maker ZTE.
Compatibility and Device Support
- Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) with 802.11b/g/n and 802.11ac support — newer and older phones and laptops all connect.
- Up to 10 users at once — one data bundle covers a family, a study group or a small office team.
- Signal distance of about 10 metres — enough for a room or small office, with walls reducing range.
- Works with Windows 7, Windows XP, Vista, macOS and Linux computers — no driver or app needed to join.
- Micro SIM slot (3FF size) — a Nano SIM needs a simple adapter, which costs little and fits in seconds.
Build, Screen and Battery
- Built-in screen — the router carries its own display, so you are not relying on a phone app alone.
- 3000mAh internal battery — keeps the connection running away from a socket and through short power cuts.
- 5V/1A charging input — works with nearly any USB phone charger, laptop port or power bank you already own.
- Pocket-sized body — slips into a shirt pocket, laptop sleeve or handbag without adding much weight.
- White finish — a clean colour that matches most desks and is easy to spot inside a dark bag.
Security and Storage
- WPA3 encryption — the newest Wi-Fi security standard, making it far harder for strangers to guess your password.
- WPA and WPA2 support — keeps older laptops and phones connected while still requiring a password.
- Password-protected network — only people you share the key with can use your data bundle.
- MicroSD card slot for cards up to 32GB — gives the router a place for a memory card if your setup needs one.
- Multi-user connection management — the router shares one SIM's connection across all joined devices at the same time.
