Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard stock has arrived at Mascom International, priced at KSh 6,000 for a brand new and sealed original Lenovo replacement. It is the keyboard alone, made for the 14-inch 360-degree convertible sold under machine type 82YL with 13th Gen Intel Core processors. Expect the US English layout, six rows of keys, multimedia function controls and the LED backlight Lenovo specifies for this model. The Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard is available now at Old Mutual Building, First Floor Room 4, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD, with delivery to every county.
This convertible is popular with students at Strathmore and USIU, and with consultants who fold it into tent mode for client presentations. Daily folding, travel and typing take a toll over time. A keycap snaps off inside a backpack, a spill silences a whole row, or the backlight fades across half the board. The Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard restores every key and the full backlight in one repair. Replacing the keyboard alone costs a small share of a new convertible, and you keep the screen, storage and setup you already rely on.
Where most Nairobi electronics shops offer generic boards that miss the backlight or sit unevenly in the aluminium deck, Mascom International supplies the genuine Lenovo part. That means the key shape, legend printing and connector match what left the Lenovo factory. Buyers throughout Kenya tell us that matching the exact model first saves them a second trip to the repair bench. Send a photo of your laptop label, and we confirm the Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard fits before you pay. Order the Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard for pay-on-arrival delivery or collect it in person.
Common Questions About the Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard
Which laptops does the Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard fit?
The Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard fits the 14-inch convertible with machine type 82YL and 13th Gen Intel Core processors. Check the label under the laptop: the model line reads 14IRL8 and the machine type code begins with 82YL. The AMD Ryzen edition, sold as the 14ARP8, carries its own part numbers, while the Yoga Pro and Yoga Slim ranges are different laptops entirely. WhatsApp a photo of that label to Mascom International on +254 708 852 521 and we confirm the match first.
Does this keyboard come with the palmrest or top cover?
No, Mascom International supplies the keyboard on its own, without the aluminium palmrest. Lenovo also sells a service assembly for the 82YL that joins the keyboard to the palmrest top cover, in Storm Grey or Tidal Teal, with or without the fingerprint reader. The keyboard alone costs less and suits any laptop whose palmrest is straight, clean and undamaged. If your top cover is dented, cracked or bent from a fall, ask us about the full assembly before you order.
Can I fit the Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard myself, or do I need a technician?
A qualified laptop technician should fit it, because this keyboard is not a quick drop-in like a business ThinkPad keyboard. On the 82YL, Lenovo mounts the keyboard beneath the aluminium top cover, so most internal parts come out before the old keyboard can be released. That includes disconnecting the battery and lifting out the main components. An experienced technician handles the job safely, and the Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard then sits exactly where the original did, with nothing left loose.
Will the backlight work after the new keyboard goes in?
Yes, the backlight works on any 82YL laptop, because Lenovo lists an LED backlit keyboard in the official specification for this model. Once fitted and connected, press Fn and the Space bar to cycle through the brightness levels or switch the light off. If the keys stay dark after fitting, the backlight cable is usually not fully seated, which a technician corrects in minutes. Mascom International helps you troubleshoot over WhatsApp if anything behaves unexpectedly after installation.
Should I replace the keyboard or upgrade to a new convertible like the HP Envy x360?
Replace the keyboard if the rest of your laptop still performs well, because a new convertible such as the HP Envy x360 costs many times KSh 6,000 in Kenya. The 82YL already carries a 13th Gen Intel processor, an aluminium body and a sharp 14-inch display, so it has years of useful life left. A failing keyboard is a repair, not a reason to retire the machine. The Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard keeps your files, apps and settings exactly as they are.
What should I do if I spill chai on my Yoga 7 14IRL8 keyboard?
Shut the laptop down immediately, unplug the charger, and stand it upside down in tent shape so liquid drains away from the board. Do not power it on for at least two days, and never use a hairdryer, because heat drives sugar deeper. Sugary chai and soda often leave sticky residue that kills keys or the backlight even after drying. If keys still fail, the Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard from Mascom International replaces the damaged unit with a clean original.
Who should buy this keyboard, and who should look elsewhere?
Buy the Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard if your 82YL laptop runs well but has missing keycaps, dead keys or a patchy backlight. Marketing teams and consultants moving between Westlands and Upper Hill meetings depend on a deck that types cleanly in client rooms. Skip it if your screen, hinge or system board has also failed, because those repairs can approach the value of the laptop. In that case, a newer laptop from Mascom International is the smarter spend.
How do I pay for the Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard if I live outside Nairobi?
You pay on arrival, by M-Pesa or cash, once the rider hands the keyboard over and you have checked it. That means no money moves before the part reaches you, wherever you are in Kenya. Before dispatch, Mascom International confirms your machine type and laptop colour on WhatsApp, so the right keyboard leaves our store. Keep the part sticker and packaging until your technician has fitted and tested the keyboard, because it helps if any warranty question arises later.
Technical Specifications
Keyboard Layout and Backlighting
- US English QWERTY layout across six rows, the configuration most Lenovo convertibles in Kenya leave the shop with.
- LED backlight sits under the keycaps, lighting every legend clearly during evening lectures and dim conference rooms.
- Fn plus Space cycles the backlight brightness, so you pick a brighter level at night or switch it off on battery.
- Top-row function keys control volume, screen brightness and microphone mute without digging through Windows menus.
- No number pad, which keeps the letter keys centred under the 14-inch screen for balanced two-handed typing.
- Secondary functions are printed clearly on each key, so shortcuts stay easy to find months after fitting.
Model Fit and Machine Type Matching
- Made for machine type 82YL, the 2023 convertible built on 13th Gen Intel Core U-series and P-series processors.
- Fits every 82YL screen option, whether your unit has the WUXGA OLED, 2.2K IPS or 2.8K OLED panel.
- Suits both Storm Grey and Tidal Teal chassis, with key colour confirmed against your finish before dispatch.
- Not interchangeable with the Yoga Pro or Yoga Slim ranges, which use different decks, layouts and connectors.
- The AMD Ryzen 14ARP8 edition carries separate Lenovo part numbers, so confirm compatibility with us before ordering one.
- Mascom International checks the full model number from your label photo before payment, preventing costly ordering mistakes.
Typing Feel and Key Design
- Lenovo's curved-edge keycap shape helps your fingers find each key without looking down at the deck.
- Key travel and feedback match the factory original, so typing feels the way the laptop did when new.
- Original legends glow evenly under the backlight, unlike reprinted copies where light bleeds around the letters.
- Fresh switches restore even pressure across every key, ending doubled letters and keys that need a hard press.
- Quiet keystrokes suit libraries, open-plan offices and late-night work without disturbing people nearby.
- The keyboard switches off automatically in tent and tablet modes, so stray presses never reach your work.
Installation Requirements
- On the 82YL, the keyboard sits beneath the aluminium top cover, so fitting means taking the laptop down to its frame.
- A qualified laptop technician should handle the swap, because most internal parts come out before the keyboard releases.
- Disconnect the battery before any work begins, protecting the system board and backlight circuit from short circuits.
- Handle the keyboard and backlight flex cables gently, because thin ribbon connectors tear when pulled at an angle.
- Keep the original screws sorted by position, since the aluminium chassis uses several different screw lengths.
- Test every key, the backlight and the touchpad before final reassembly, catching any loose connector early.
Build Quality and Long-Term Care
- Original Lenovo construction with a rigid support layer under the keys, so the deck stays firm during heavy typing sessions.
- Factory legend printing resists fading far longer than stickers or reprints, keeping letters sharp under the backlight for years.
- New condition means every key starts with full spring tension and no shiny, worn patches from earlier use.
- Low-profile keycaps sit flush with the palmrest, so the 360-degree hinge folds fully into tablet mode without keys catching.
- Clear dust from between the keys with compressed air every few weeks, which keeps switches responsive and the backlight even.
- Wipe the keycaps with a lightly damp microfibre cloth, never a soaked one, because liquid seeping under keys damages the backlight.
- Carry the laptop in a padded sleeve when travelling, protecting keycaps from pens, chargers and keys rattling inside your bag.

Warranty
Mascom International covers the Lenovo Yoga 7 14IRL8 Keyboard for 6 months against manufacturing defects.
