HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm is now in stock at Mascom International, priced at KSh 129,000 and supplied brand new and sealed. Inside sits the 12-core Intel Core Ultra 7 255U, backed by 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB SSD. The 16-inch touchscreen runs at 1920 x 1200, giving you taller pages than a standard widescreen laptop. HP rates the battery for up to 19 hours, and a backlit keyboard with numeric keypad handles late-night work. See the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm at Old Mutual Building, First Floor Room 4, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD.
Designed for accountants, lawyers, bank staff and NGO programme officers, the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm addresses a daily frustration: laptops that slow down once Outlook, Excel, Teams and twenty Chrome tabs are open together. Twice the memory of entry-level machines keeps that whole stack responsive from morning to evening. The 1TB SSD holds years of case files, audit working papers and scanned receipts without an external drive. CPAs handling KRA iTax deadlines get a numeric keypad and a large screen for long ledgers. Professionals moving between Upper Hill, Westlands and Nairobi CBD get a battery that outlasts most meeting-heavy days.
Where most Nairobi electronics shops offer 8GB and 512GB at this tier, Mascom International stocks the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm with double both figures. Customers across Nairobi report that the extra storage alone saves them buying an external disk within the first year. You also get the Core Ultra 7 chip, which brings a dedicated AI engine for call clean-up and Windows features. Order the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm for pay-on-arrival delivery, or come in and test the keyboard, screen and speakers yourself before you decide.
Common Questions About the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm
Is the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm worth KSh 129,000 in Kenya?
Yes, if you want 16GB of RAM, 1TB of storage and a Core Ultra 7 chip in one 16-inch package, the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm is fairly priced at Mascom International. Spread over three years of daily office use, KSh 129,000 works out to about KSh 118 per day. That buys a laptop that should stay responsive through several Windows updates, rather than one you replace after two years because memory or storage ran out.
How long does the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm battery last?
HP rates the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm for up to 19 hours of battery life. Real-world office use with Wi-Fi, Outlook, Teams calls and brightness around half will come in lower, but a full working day away from the socket is realistic. The efficient U-series Core Ultra 7 processor is the reason. For professionals facing KPLC interruptions or long shifts at client sites in Industrial Area, that means fewer hunts for a free power outlet.
HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm vs HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx, what does the extra money buy?
The HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm doubles the memory to 16GB, doubles storage to 1TB, and moves up to a faster Core Ultra 7 255U with a backlit keyboard. The cheaper model at KSh 87,000 suits students and light users well. This one is for people whose laptop is their main work tool all day. One trade-off: the cheaper laptop has newer Wi-Fi 7, while this one uses Wi-Fi 6, which still runs any Kenyan home or office fibre plan comfortably.
Is 16GB of RAM on the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm enough for heavy office work?
Yes, 16GB lets the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm keep Excel models, Outlook, Teams, a PDF reader and 25 or more browser tabs open without stutter. It also handles QuickBooks, Sage and Tally for accountants, plus Canva and light Photoshop for marketing teams. Where 8GB laptops start swapping to storage and slowing down, this machine keeps working. For 4K video editing or 3D rendering, you would still want dedicated graphics.
Can the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm handle video calls and hybrid work?
Yes, the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm is built for hybrid work, with a 1080p Full HD webcam and an Intel AI Boost engine that handles background blur and noise reduction. Your face stays sharp on Zoom, Google Meet and Teams, and background matatu hooting from the street gets filtered out. The 16-inch screen fits the meeting window beside your notes. Wi-Fi 6 keeps calls stable on Safaricom Home Fibre and Faiba connections.
Who should buy the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm, and who should look elsewhere?
Buy the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm if you work in finance, law, administration, HR or programme management and want a large-screen laptop that stays quick for years. Skip it if you need a laptop that flips into a tablet for pen notes; the HP OmniBook X Flip 16-as0023dx fits that role. Video editors and gamers should choose the HP OmniBook 7 AI 16-ay0575cl, which adds NVIDIA RTX 4050 graphics, from Mascom International.
How much can the 1TB SSD in the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm hold?
The 1TB SSD in the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm stores roughly twice what a 512GB laptop holds. In practice that means hundreds of thousands of Word and Excel files, a large photo archive, and room for offline copies of shared company folders. SSD speed also matters: Windows boots in seconds and large PDFs open almost instantly. Many buyers skip external hard drives entirely, which also removes one more item that can be lost in transit.
Can the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm run KRA iTax, eCitizen and online banking portals?
Yes, the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm runs every browser-based Kenyan government and banking portal, including KRA iTax, eCitizen, NSSF, SHA and corporate banking platforms from KCB, Equity and NCBA. Chrome, Edge and Firefox all work normally on Windows 11. The large 16-inch screen makes long iTax forms and bank statements easier to read, and the numeric keypad speeds up figure entry. Windows Hello sign-in options and regular security updates help protect client data.
Does the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm have a touchscreen, and is it useful?
Yes, the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm has a 16-inch multitouch display. You can scroll long contracts, zoom into scanned documents and tap through presentations with a finger. The hinge does not fold into a tablet, so it works as a laptop with added touch rather than a 2-in-1. Many lawyers and managers find touch handy for signing off quick approvals and flicking through slides during client meetings in Kilimani or Upper Hill.
