Bose Ultra Open Earbuds in Black are available at Mascom International for KSh 31,000, brand new and sealed, with up to 7 hours of playback per charge and a charging case that adds up to 18 more hours. The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds use a cuff design that clips onto the side of the ear instead of sitting inside the canal, so outside sound still reaches you. Each bud carries an IPX4 rating against sweat and splashes, connects over Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint, and works with the Bose Music app. You can collect a pair at our shop in Old Mutual Building, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD.
Built for professionals and runners across Kenya, the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds suit people who cannot afford to shut the world out. A sales rep walking between meetings in Upper Hill needs to hear a car horn. A doctor on call needs to hear a colleague at the nurses' station. Traditional earbuds seal the ear and force a choice between music and awareness. The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds remove that choice, because music sits beside your surroundings rather than over them. The Black finish keeps a low profile in a boardroom, on an evening run through Westlands or on a matatu ride home from town.
Unlike other electronics retailers in Kenya that stock grey-import audio with no local backing, Mascom International sells the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds sealed, with a 12-month warranty handled at our Nairobi CBD desk. Customers across Nairobi tell us the clip fit stays in place better than they expected, even on a brisk jog. Where in-ear models press on the canal after an hour, the cuff rests on the outer edge of the ear and is easy to forget. Visit the shop to try the fit before paying, or order on WhatsApp and pay on arrival anywhere in Kenya.
Common Questions About the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds
How much are the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds Black in Kenya?
The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds in Black cost KSh 31,000 brand new and sealed at Mascom International on Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD. That price covers the earbuds, the charging case, a USB-C cable and a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects. Delivery is pay-on-arrival, so you inspect the box before handing over money. The Blue version sits at KSh 32,000, a KSh 1,000 gap for the colour alone, since the hardware, battery and features are identical across both finishes.
Should I buy the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds or the Shokz OpenFit 2?
Pick the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds for a spatial audio mode and Snapdragon Sound support; pick the Shokz OpenFit 2 at KSh 25,500 to save KSh 5,500. Both are open-ear designs that leave the ear canal uncovered, and both are in stock at Mascom International. The Bose clips around the ear like a cuff, while the Shokz OpenFit 2 rests over the top of the ear on a hook. Fit decides most of these purchases, so try both at our counter before choosing.
Do the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds handle Kenyan heat, sweat and rain?
The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds carry an IPX4 rating, so they resist sweat and splashing water from any direction. That covers a humid afternoon walk in Mombasa or a sudden shower on the way to a matatu stage. The X in the rating means dust was not formally tested, so wipe grit off the buds and contacts before they go back in the case. IPX4 does not cover submersion, so keep them away from pools. An acoustic mesh over the openings also keeps moisture out.
Who should buy the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds, and who should skip them?
Buy the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds if you need to hear the world around you: runners, cyclists, receptionists and parents working from home. Skip them if you want silence on a noisy matatu or a long flight, because open-ear designs do not block sound and offer no noise cancellation. For that, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds at KSh 27,500, also at Mascom International, seal the ear and cancel noise. Swimmers need a waterproof model such as the Shokz OpenSwim Pro instead.
How long does the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds battery last?
The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds play for up to 7 hours per charge in standard stereo mode, or up to 4 hours with the spatial audio mode switched on. The charging case holds up to 18 more hours, giving about 25 hours in total before you need a socket. For most commuters that is a full working week of travel listening. Keep the case topped up from a power bank or laptop so a KPLC outage never leaves you without music for the ride home.
Can I take calls on the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds in a busy office?
Yes, the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds handle calls, and you answer or end them with the button on each bud. Because your ears stay open, you hear your own voice naturally, which makes long calls less tiring than with sealed earbuds. Multipoint keeps your phone and laptop connected at once, so a Teams meeting on the laptop can give way to a Safaricom call on the phone. Bose does not publish microphone figures for this model, so test a call at our counter first.
Do the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds work with Android phones and iPhones?
The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds pair with any Bluetooth phone, including iPhones and Samsung, Tecno and Infinix handsets. They use Bluetooth 5.3 with a stated range of about 9 metres. Android phones get Google Fast Pair, so a pairing pop-up appears when you open the case nearby. Handsets with Snapdragon Sound support can use the higher-quality Qualcomm link. The Bose Music app runs on both Android and iOS, giving you EQ controls for bass, mid-range and treble.
Are the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds worth KSh 31,000 for a road runner?
For a runner who trains on roads, the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds earn their price because they keep traffic audible without a band around your neck. The cuff clips onto the ear edge and does not depend on a tight seal to stay put. Runners who buy from us report wearing them for full Saturday long runs without adjusting them. If you only run on a treadmill indoors, a cheaper sealed earbud does the same job for less money.
