HP Elite x2 G8 | Intel Core i5 11th Gen | 8GB RAM | 256GB SSD | 13-inch Touchscreen
A detachable Windows tablet with a kickstand, restored by its maker for people who work standing, walking and presenting.
Condition: Certified Refurbished
Note: price and availability are subject to change without prior notice
Mascom International stocks the HP Elite x2 G8 at KSh 68,000, configured with an Intel Core i5 11th Gen processor, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD behind a 13-inch touchscreen. This detachable 2-in-1 was refurbished by HP at the factory, tested and repacked in an HP box with its power adapter. The HP Elite x2 G8 is a full Windows computer in tablet form, with a built-in kickstand and a magnetic keyboard attachment that turns it into a laptop on a desk. See it at Old Mutual Building, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD.
Built for doctors, estate agents, field engineers and sales teams across Kenya, the HP Elite x2 G8 handles client forms, presentations, signatures and email in one device. A regular laptop has to sit on a table, which is awkward on a ward round or a site visit in Kilimani. Here you detach the screen, hold it like a tablet and fill in a form by touch or pen, then dock it back to type a report. The 3:2 screen shape shows more of a page than a standard widescreen, so letters, invoices and documents read naturally in portrait or landscape.
Unlike other electronics retailers in Kenya that treat 2-in-1s as an afterthought, Mascom International keeps the HP Elite x2 G8 as HP-refurbished stock with a 12-month warranty. Buyers throughout Kenya report that the kickstand and touchscreen change how they present to clients, with no need to turn a laptop around on the table. Customers across Nairobi tell us they carry the HP Elite x2 G8 where they used to carry a laptop and a notebook. Visit our Kimathi Street store to try it, or order on WhatsApp and pay when it arrives.
Common Questions About the HP Elite x2 G8
How much is the HP Elite x2 G8 i5 8GB 256GB in Kenya?
The HP Elite x2 G8 with an Intel Core i5 11th Gen, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD costs KSh 68,000 at Mascom International in Nairobi, refurbished by HP and boxed. That includes the HP power adapter and cord, a 12-month warranty and pay-on-arrival delivery countrywide. It sits KSh 28,000 above the HP EliteBook 840 G6 and KSh 25,000 below the HP EliteBook 840 G11. Confirm on WhatsApp whether the keyboard and pen come with your unit.
Can the HP Elite x2 G8 replace a laptop for daily work?
Yes, the HP Elite x2 G8 runs full Windows, so Word, Excel, Teams, QuickBooks and browser systems all work as on any laptop. HP designed a backlit keyboard that clips on magnetically and doubles as a screen cover. Whether that keyboard ships with this stock should be confirmed on WhatsApp before you pay. With the keyboard attached and the kickstand open, it sits on a desk like a small laptop. Without it, any Bluetooth or USB keyboard works.
Is the HP Elite x2 G8 new, used or refurbished?
The HP Elite x2 G8 at Mascom International is refurbished by HP itself, not a used unit from an office clear-out. HP tested each tablet, restored it to its own standard and packed it in an HP box with the adapter and cord. Used stock is sold as found, without any check by the maker. Battery health and small finish details can still vary between units, so ask our team on WhatsApp about the exact one you are buying.
Should I buy the HP Elite x2 G8 or a regular EliteBook laptop?
Pick the HP Elite x2 G8 if you work standing or moving, want a touchscreen and pen support, and value its newer 11th Gen processor. Pick a regular clamshell such as the HP EliteBook 840 G6 at KSh 40,000 if you mostly type at a desk. The G6 has 16GB RAM against 8GB and a larger 14-inch screen, and its keyboard is always attached. The x2 G8 costs KSh 28,000 more for the tablet design and touch input.
Is the HP Elite x2 G8 practical for field work in Kenya?
The HP Elite x2 G8 suits field work because it runs on its 47Wh battery, detaches into a tablet and stands on its own kickstand anywhere. When there is no Wi-Fi on site, connect it to a Safaricom or Airtel Kenya phone hotspot over Wi-Fi 6. Gorilla Glass 5 protects the touchscreen from everyday scratches. In dusty places such as construction sites near Thika Road, keep it in a sleeve and wipe the ports clean regularly.
Is 8GB of RAM enough on the HP Elite x2 G8?
For office work, 8GB on the HP Elite x2 G8 runs Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and about ten to fifteen browser tabs comfortably. The memory is soldered to the board, so it cannot be upgraded later. If you regularly keep heavy spreadsheets, many Chrome tabs and video calls open together, a 16GB machine will feel smoother. For forms, presentations, email and note-taking, which is what most 2-in-1 buyers do, 8GB is enough day to day.
Can I write and sign documents with a pen on the HP Elite x2 G8?
Yes, the HP Elite x2 G8 touchscreen supports the HP Active Pen G3, so you can handwrite notes, mark up PDFs and sign contracts on screen. Doctors use it for annotating charts, and lawyers for signing agreements before scanning them to clients. Whether a pen ships with this stock should be confirmed with our team on WhatsApp. If it does not, we can advise on a compatible HP pen. Finger touch works without any pen.
Who should buy the HP Elite x2 G8 and who should skip it?
Buy the HP Elite x2 G8 if you present to clients, fill forms on the move or want one device for tablet and laptop use. Estate agents, doctors, insurance agents and trainers get the most from it. Skip it if you type long reports all day on your lap, since a detachable keyboard is less steady than a hinged one. Those buyers are better off with a clamshell such as the HP EliteBook 840 G11.
Technical Specifications
Processor
- Intel Core i5 11th Gen processor with four cores and eight threads, handling office apps running side by side.
- Eight threads mean background syncing never stalls the form or slide you are working on in front of a client.
- A low-power U-series chip built for thin devices, which keeps the tablet body cool enough to hold.
- Runs Windows 11, Microsoft 365, PDF editors and web-based systems such as eCitizen without delay in normal use.
- Newer than 8th Gen business chips, with faster built-in graphics and better efficiency per hour of battery.
Memory
- 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM, a fast low-power memory type made for slim tablets and 2-in-1s.
- RAM is the space for open apps; 8GB holds Office, email, a video call and several tabs together.
- Soldered to the main board, so the amount cannot be changed after purchase.
- Low-power memory draws less battery, helping the HP Elite x2 G8 last through a working day of light tasks.
- Suits forms, presentations and documents; heavy multitasking users should consider a 16GB laptop instead.
Storage
- 256GB NVMe solid-state drive, a fast drive type that opens apps and files almost instantly.
- Room for years of client forms, signed PDFs and site photos, with space left for Windows updates.
- No moving parts, so it copes with being carried, tilted and set down all day.
- Cloud storage such as OneDrive keeps large archives off the device and backed up.
- Quick wake from sleep means you can open it, sign a form and close it within moments.
Display
- 13-inch touchscreen in a 3:2 shape, taller than a standard widescreen, so A4 documents fill more of it.
- Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front, a toughened glass that resists scratches from keys and daily handling.
- Responds to finger touch for scrolling, zooming and tapping through forms without a mouse.
- Works with the HP Active Pen G3 for handwriting, sketching and signing directly on screen.
- Bright enough for indoor offices and shaded outdoor work; direct midday sun still calls for a shaded spot.
Graphics
- Intel Iris Xe Graphics built into the processor, a clear step up from older Intel UHD graphics.
- Drives an external monitor or projector through its USB-C ports for presentations and desk setups.
- Plays Full HD video and online lessons smoothly, on the built-in screen or a larger display.
- Handles Canva, PowerPoint animations and light photo edits with ease.
- Gaming and 3D modelling sit outside its job; it is tuned for business apps and video.
Battery
- 47Wh battery, the store of energy that runs the tablet away from a socket.
- Supports HP fast charging, which tops the battery up quicker during short breaks.
- Charges through USB-C, so the same charger type can serve modern phones and accessories.
- Keeps working when KPLC power drops, so presentations and forms are not interrupted.
- A laptop-rated USB-C power bank can add running time on long field days.
Build and Ports
- Tablet body only 8.8 mm thick, rising to 14.2 mm with the keyboard attached.
- Built-in kickstand holds the screen at a range of angles on desks, counters and car seats.
- Two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports for charging, docking, external displays and fast file transfer.
- 3.5 mm audio jack, plus Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless networks, mice and headsets.
- Front camera with IR for Windows Hello face sign-in, and an 8MP rear camera for document snaps.
