Lenovo ThinkPad T470s with an Intel Core i7 7th Gen processor, 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD is available at Mascom International for KSh 26,000. This used business machine pairs a 14-inch screen with a carbon-fibre and magnesium body that weighs about 1.32kg. The 7th Gen chip is typically a Core i7-7600U or i7-7500U, a dual-core, four-thread design that turbo boosts up to 3.9GHz on the 7600U. You can see and test the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s at our shop in the Old Mutual Building on Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD, before you pay a single shilling.
Built for executives, accountants and consultants across Kenya, the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s handles long days of Excel models, Teams meetings and email without the weight of a full-size workstation. Many buyers come to us with a slow hard-drive laptop that takes minutes to boot. The SSD in this unit starts Windows in seconds and opens large files quickly, even with several programs running. A USB-C charging port, a full-size HDMI output and a built-in Ethernet jack mean the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s plugs into an Upper Hill boardroom projector or a Westlands office network with no extra adapters.
Where most Nairobi electronics shops sell used ThinkPads with little more than a verbal promise, Mascom International tests every keyboard, port and battery before a unit goes on the shelf. At Mascom International, we're seeing more finance teams choose the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s as a reliable second machine for field audits and home work. Customers across Nairobi tell us the keyboard alone makes the switch worth it. Visit the store to try the unit in person, or order on WhatsApp and pay only when it reaches your door anywhere in Kenya.
Common Questions About the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s
How much is the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i7 7th Gen in Kenya?
The Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i7 7th Gen costs KSh 26,000 at Mascom International in Nairobi, sold in clean used condition. That price covers the laptop with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD, a tested compatible charger and cord, and a 6-month warranty. Delivery is pay-on-arrival across Kenya. If your budget is tighter, the same model with a Core i7 6th Gen chip sells at KSh 23,500, and the Core i5 7th Gen version at KSh 22,000.
Is this Lenovo ThinkPad T470s used or refurbished, and what is the difference?
This Lenovo ThinkPad T470s is used, not refurbished. A used unit is a carefully maintained international import sold as it came from its first owner, after Mascom International checks it works. A refurbished unit has been repaired or restored to a set standard by the manufacturer or a certified workshop. Ports, keyboard layout and battery health vary slightly between used units, so message us on WhatsApp to confirm the exact machine you will receive before ordering.
Should I pick the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i7 7th Gen or the ThinkPad L490 at the same price?
Both sell for KSh 26,000 at Mascom International, but they suit different buyers. The Lenovo ThinkPad T470s is thinner and lighter, with a carbon-fibre lid and a Thunderbolt 3 port. The ThinkPad L490 carries a newer 8th Gen Core i5 with four cores, which helps with heavy multitasking and qualifies for Windows 11. Pick the T470s if you carry your laptop daily on matatus. Pick the L490 if it mostly stays on one desk.
How does the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s handle KPLC power cuts and charging in Kenya?
The Lenovo ThinkPad T470s runs on two internal batteries, so a short KPLC outage does not interrupt your work. It charges over USB-C, which means a laptop-rated USB-C power bank or a car charger can top it up during longer blackouts. A small UPS or inverter also keeps the charger running through evening outages in estates around Nairobi. Battery health differs between used units, so ask us on WhatsApp for the tested figure on your machine.
Who should buy the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i7, and who should skip it?
Buy the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i7 if you write reports, run spreadsheets, join video calls and travel often. Skip it if you edit 4K video, play modern games or need official Windows 11 support, since Microsoft's supported list starts at 8th Gen Intel chips. Graphic designers and gamers need a machine with a dedicated graphics card. For Windows 11 eligibility in a light body, the ThinkPad X280 with an 8th Gen Core i5 costs KSh 23,000 in this batch.
Can the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s run large Excel files and QuickBooks?
Yes, the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s comfortably runs Excel workbooks with tens of thousands of rows, QuickBooks and Sage. The Core i7 7th Gen boosts quickly for recalculations, while 8GB RAM keeps the accounting software, a browser and email open together. Accountants filing returns on KRA iTax often keep several tabs open alongside their ledgers, and this machine handles that load. Heavy macro workbooks benefit from more RAM. The 14-inch screen also fits two narrow windows side by side, so you can compare a bank statement with a ledger without switching back and forth.
Can I upgrade the RAM on this Lenovo ThinkPad T470s?
Yes, the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s has one free-standing DDR4 memory slot next to memory soldered on the board. That means you can replace the removable stick with a larger one to lift total RAM well beyond 8GB. Mascom International can fit and test a memory upgrade at our Kimathi Street store. Storage can also be upgraded, because the SSD sits in a standard M.2 slot that accepts faster NVMe drives. Upgrading a used ThinkPad this way costs far less than buying a newer laptop, so many Kenyan offices keep these machines for years.
Is a Core i7 7th Gen still fast enough for office work in 2026?
For documents, email, browsing and video calls, a Core i7 7th Gen remains quick enough for most office users in Kenya. The SSD matters more than chip age for daily speed, and this unit has one. Heavy multitasking with dozens of tabs will feel slower than on newer quad-core chips. Buyers throughout Kenya report that the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s stays responsive for Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and Zoom across a full workday.

- Memory fitting available in store — Mascom International can install and test an upgrade while you wait.
Storage

Display
- 14-inch screen — a good balance between a readable workspace and a bag-friendly body size.
- Resolution varies by unit — the T470s shipped with HD and Full HD panels, so confirm yours on WhatsApp.
- Anti-glare matte finish on non-touch panels — reduces reflections from office lights and sunny windows during long sessions.

- Hardware video decoding — plays YouTube and Netflix in high definition while using little battery.
- HDMI output — connects to a projector or office monitor for presentations without any adapter.
- Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C — drives an external display or a docking station with a single cable.
- Not built for gaming — light titles run, but modern 3D games need a dedicated graphics card.
Battery and Charging
- Two internal batteries — the system draws from both, extending runtime during a long workday.
- USB-C charging — works with many laptop-rated USB-C chargers and power banks, handy during KPLC outages.
- Battery health varies by unit — Mascom International tests each battery and shares the figure on request.
- Low-power processor — helps the battery last through meetings, commutes and coffee-shop work sessions.
