Condition: New
Note: price and availability are subject to change without prior notice
The Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box, with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, Android 14 and a white finish, is available at Mascom International for KSh 7,500, brand new and sealed. The Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box runs on an Allwinner H313 quad-core processor with Mali-G31 graphics, streams in 4K Ultra HD with HDR support, and connects over dual-band Wi-Fi 6 or a wired Ethernet cable. A microSD slot adds up to 64GB of extra room for apps and saved videos. You can see it running on a TV at our shop in the Old Mutual Building, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD.
Built for families, university students and Airbnb hosts across Kenya, the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box turns an older television without apps into a full streaming set. Many homes in Kilimani, Kisumu and Nakuru still run a working LED TV that cannot install anything. Plug the box into its HDMI port, join your Wi-Fi, and Netflix, YouTube and sports apps are ready on the big screen. The remote has Google Assistant voice search, so you say a film title instead of typing it letter by letter. The Ethernet port takes a cable straight from a Safaricom Home Fibre or Zuku router for steadier evening streams.
Where most Nairobi electronics shops sell unbranded boxes with no after-sales support, Mascom International stocks the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box with a written warranty and a counter you can walk back to. Customers across Nairobi tell us the wired port and memory card slot are the reasons they pick a box over a stick. If you prefer something that hides behind the TV, the questions below compare it with the Porodo TV Stick 4K at KSh 7,100. Visit the store to try the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box, or order on WhatsApp for pay-on-arrival delivery.
Common Questions About the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box
How much is the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box 2GB 16GB in Kenya?
The Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage costs KSh 7,500, brand new, at Mascom International in Nairobi CBD. That price covers the box, its voice remote, an HDMI cable and the power adapter, so nothing else is needed to start streaming. It also includes a 12-month warranty and pay-on-arrival delivery to all 47 counties. The Porodo TV Stick 4K, which we also stock, costs KSh 7,100, so the box asks KSh 400 more for its Ethernet port, microSD slot and USB port.
Should I buy the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box or the Porodo TV Stick 4K?
Choose the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box for wired internet, expandable storage and a USB port; choose the stick for the neatest setup. Both run Android 14 with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, dual-band Wi-Fi and a Google Assistant remote. The box sits beside the TV and adds Ethernet, a microSD slot for cards up to 64GB, USB and AV output. The stick plugs straight into the HDMI port, disappears behind the screen and costs KSh 400 less, but it has none of those extra ports.
Will the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box work on my old TV?
The Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box works on any television with an HDMI input, and it also carries an AV output. That covers most LED and LCD TVs sold in Kenya over the past decade, including basic models from Hisense, TCL, Vitron and Samsung that have no app store. You get 4K only on a 4K TV; a 1080p or 720p screen simply shows the picture at its own resolution. Send your TV model to Mascom International on WhatsApp and we will confirm the connection before you buy.
How does the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box cope with power cuts and weak internet?
The Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box restarts after a KPLC power cut and rejoins your saved Wi-Fi network without a fresh setup. Its 5V, 2A power draw is low, so it adds little load to a home UPS during outages. For weak signal, run an Ethernet cable from your Safaricom, Airtel or Zuku router; a wired link avoids the drops that thick walls and distance cause on Wi-Fi. 4K streaming needs a fast line, so households on slower plans should set apps to HD.
Can I install Netflix, YouTube and other apps on the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box?
Yes, the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box runs Android 14 and supports streaming apps such as Netflix and YouTube. The 16GB of built-in storage holds the apps most homes use, from video services to music and news. When space runs low, a microSD card of up to 64GB adds room for downloaded films and extra apps. Picture quality depends on the app and your subscription, so check that your Netflix plan includes the resolution you want before paying for it.
What does 2GB RAM mean on the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box in daily use?
The 2GB RAM on the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box keeps one streaming app running with a couple more paused in the background. That suits watching a series, jumping to YouTube for a clip, then returning without a full reload. It is not meant for heavy Android games or a dozen open apps at once. Closing apps you no longer use keeps the menus quick. For a living room TV used mainly for streaming and music, that balance works well at this price.
Who should buy the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box, and who should skip it?
Buy the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box if your TV has no apps and you want wired internet, extra storage or a USB port for your own video files. Students in hostels near Kenyatta University and families in rented flats get a full streaming set for KSh 7,500. Skip it if your TV is wall-mounted and you want nothing visible; the Porodo TV Stick 4K suits that better. Gamers who want console titles should look at a PlayStation or Xbox instead.
Can I play films from a flash drive or memory card on the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box?
Yes, the Porodo Echobox 4K Android TV Box reads video from a USB flash drive or a microSD card of up to 64GB through its built-in ports. That helps when you carry films from a friend's laptop or download a series at the office on faster internet. The box supports multiple media formats, so most common video files open in a media player app. This is the main feature the Porodo TV Stick 4K cannot match, because the stick has no memory card slot or spare USB port.
Technical Specifications
Core Function and Streaming Performance
- Allwinner H313 quad-core processor built on ARM Cortex-A53 cores — handles menus, app loading and video decoding for everyday streaming without long waits.
- Mali-G31 graphics with OpenGL ES 3.2 support — draws the home screen, app menus and light casual games smoothly on a large television.
- 4K Ultra HD output with HDR support — sharper detail and deeper contrast on a 4K TV whenever the app and the content offer it.
- Android 14 operating system — a recent Android version, so current releases of popular streaming apps install and run on the box.
- Built-in Google Assistant — press the voice button on the remote and say a show or channel name instead of typing on screen.
- Multi-format media playback — common video and music files open from a flash drive or memory card through a media player app.
Compatibility and Connectivity
- HDMI output — connects to any TV, monitor or projector with an HDMI input, the standard video port on modern screens.
- AV output — an analogue video connection that helps with some older televisions where HDMI is missing or already in use.
- Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 b/g/n/ac/ax) — joins the faster 5GHz band near the router or the longer-reaching 2.4GHz band in back rooms.
- 100 Mbps Ethernet port (RJ-45) — a cable from your fibre router gives steadier streaming than Wi-Fi through thick stone walls.
- Bluetooth 5.0 — pairs wireless accessories such as a keyboard or headphones for easier typing and quiet late-night viewing.
- USB port — plays films straight from a flash drive and accepts a mouse or keyboard for browsing and search.
Build, Memory and Storage
- 2GB RAM — working memory that keeps one streaming app open with a couple more paused, ready to switch between in seconds.
- 16GB internal storage — room for the system plus a typical set of streaming, music, news and kids' apps.
- microSD (TF) card slot for cards up to 64GB — adds space for downloaded films and extra apps when the built-in storage fills.
- Compact white casing — sits on a TV stand or shelf without drawing attention and suits light-coloured living room furniture.
- DC 5V/2A power input — a low power draw, so the box runs cool and adds little to your monthly electricity bill.
Inclusions and Setup
- Remote control with a voice button — controls the box from the sofa and starts Google Assistant search with one press.
- HDMI cable in the box — connects the box to your television straight out of the package, with no extra purchase.
- Power adapter — supplies the 5V, 2A the box needs from a standard wall socket.
- Quick first setup — connect HDMI and power, pick Wi-Fi or Ethernet, then sign in to the apps you already pay for.
- Works with your existing sound — audio travels over HDMI to the TV speakers, a soundbar or a home theatre system.
