Mascom International stocks the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s with an Intel Core i5 7th Gen processor, 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD at KSh 22,000. The processor in this model is typically the Core i5-7300U or i5-7200U, a dual-core, four-thread chip that boosts up to 3.5GHz on the 7300U. It comes housed in a 14-inch carbon-fibre and magnesium body weighing about 1.32kg. This is lightly used international stock, checked, cleaned and tested by our technicians before sale. You can inspect the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s at our store in the Old Mutual Building, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD.
Designed for university students, sales teams and first-job graduates, the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s handles assignments, CRM dashboards, Google Meet classes and job applications on a modest budget. A common story at our counter is a student whose cheap laptop slowed to a crawl by second year. This machine fixes that with a fast SSD and a business-grade build meant to last several years, through exams, internships and the first months of formal employment. Students at Kenyatta University, JKUAT or Strathmore can carry the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s between lectures, hostels and libraries without the heavy weight of a 15-inch budget notebook.
Where most Nairobi electronics shops push new entry-level laptops with slow hard drives at similar prices, Mascom International offers a used business machine with a sturdier frame and a solid-state drive. At Mascom International, we're seeing parents choose the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i5 as a laptop that survives campus life. Buyers throughout Kenya report the keyboard feels better than any consumer model they owned before. Order on WhatsApp with pay-on-arrival delivery, or come to Nairobi CBD and leave with the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s after testing it yourself.
Common Questions About the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s
How much is the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i5 7th Gen in Kenya?
The Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i5 7th Gen costs KSh 22,000 at Mascom International in Nairobi, in clean used condition. The price includes 8GB RAM, a 256GB SSD, a tested compatible charger and cord, a 6-month warranty and pay-on-arrival delivery countrywide. It is KSh 1,500 cheaper than the Core i7 6th Gen unit at KSh 23,500, and KSh 4,000 below the Core i7 7th Gen version at KSh 26,000.
What does used mean for this Lenovo ThinkPad T470s, and is it the same as refurbished?
No, used and refurbished are different, and this Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i5 is used. Used stock is a carefully maintained import sold as its first owner kept it, after Mascom International tests that everything works. Refurbished stock has gone through repairs or part replacements by the manufacturer or a certified workshop. Each used unit differs a little in battery health, keyboard layout and cosmetic marks, so message us on WhatsApp to see photos of your actual machine.
Is the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i5 a better buy than the Dell Latitude E7270 Core i5?
For most students and office users, the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i5 7th Gen is the better buy at KSh 22,000. It brings a larger 14-inch screen, a newer 7th Gen chip and USB-C charging. The Dell Latitude E7270, at KSh 21,000, has a smaller 12.5-inch screen and an older 6th Gen processor, but it is more compact. Pick the Dell if bag space matters most. Pick the ThinkPad for long reading and typing sessions, or if you want one charger that also fits many USB-C phones.
Can I use the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s for M-Pesa business, KRA iTax and eCitizen?
Yes, the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i5 runs every Kenyan government and banking web service in Chrome, Edge or Firefox. KRA iTax returns, eCitizen applications, HELB portals and the M-Pesa business web portal all work smoothly. It connects over Wi-Fi to a Safaricom or Airtel Kenya home router, or to your phone's hotspot. For shared offices and cyber cafés, the built-in Ethernet port gives a stable wired connection when Wi-Fi is weak.
Who should buy the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i5 7th Gen, and who should skip it?
Buy the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s Core i5 7th Gen if you are a student, sales rep or office worker who needs a durable laptop for writing, browsing and video calls. Skip it if you study architecture, structural design or film, because AutoCAD, Revit and video editors need more graphics muscle. Gamers should look elsewhere too. For official Windows 11 support, the ThinkPad L490 with an 8th Gen Core i5 costs KSh 26,000 in this batch.
How many hours of battery does the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s give a student?
Battery life on the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s depends on each used unit's battery health, so Mascom International tests every unit and shares the result. The laptop runs on two internal batteries, which share the load during a day of note-taking and browsing. Lowering screen brightness and closing unused tabs stretches runtime between lectures. It also charges over USB-C, so a laptop-rated power bank can top it up in a library without a free socket.
Is the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s suitable for sales teams on the road?
Yes, the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s suits sales reps who visit clients across towns like Nakuru, Thika and Machakos. Its light frame fits a backpack for matatu commutes, and the spill-resistant keyboard handles coffee shop meetings. The HDMI port connects straight to client projectors for product demos. With 8GB RAM, it keeps Salesforce, Zoho or a WhatsApp Web chat open beside your PowerPoint presentation without slowing down during the pitch.
Can the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s handle online classes on Zoom and Google Meet?
Yes, the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s handles Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams classes comfortably with its Core i5 7th Gen chip. The built-in 720p webcam and dual microphones pick up your voice clearly for presentations and group discussions. Intel HD Graphics 620 decodes video efficiently, keeping the laptop cool during long sessions. Keep the charger plugged in for back-to-back lectures, since video calls use more battery than reading or typing.

- Soldered base memory plus one open slot — the removable module can be replaced with a bigger one.
- DDR4 type — faster and less power-hungry than the DDR3 memory found in older budget laptops.
- Room to grow — a memory upgrade is simple and affordable when coursework demands more multitasking.

- Resolution depends on the unit — the T470s shipped with HD and Full HD panels, so ask before buying.
- Anti-glare finish on standard panels — easier on the eyes in bright lecture halls and sunny hostel rooms.
- Compact bezels — the 14-inch panel fits a footprint smaller than many 15-inch student laptops.

- USB-C Thunderbolt 3 — runs an external monitor or dock for a desk setup in your room.

- Two internal batteries — they share the work, giving useful time between charges on campus.
- USB-C charging — works with compatible laptop-rated chargers and power banks during KPLC outages.
- Battery health varies by unit — Mascom International checks each battery and shares the reading on request.
- Efficient processor — light tasks like note-taking and reading draw minimal power.
- Charge while you work — plugging in does not slow the laptop during long study sessions.

- Carbon-fibre reinforced lid and magnesium frame — around 1.32kg, easy to carry all day.
- MIL-STD-810G tested — checked against drops, shocks, heat and dust common in Kenyan travel.
