No. The CF401A cyan is shaped and chipped only for the M252, M274 and M277 family. The 131A cyan fits the older M251 and M276, while the 128A fits the CP1525 and CM1415. They look similar on a shelf but will not click into the wrong printer. Always match CF401A on the box to the code on your printer's supplies page. HP rates the 201X cyan (CF401X) at about 2,300 pages, roughly 64% more than the 1,400-page 201A. Offices printing over 200 colour pages monthly usually save money per page with 201X. Offices printing less often prefer 201A because the upfront cost is lower and toner stays fresh. Both fit the same slot and use the same chip standard. The printer may show a "Used or Counterfeit Supply" warning and stop reporting accurate toner levels. Refills also leak more often, and loose toner coats the transfer belt, leaving streaks across every colour. Replacing that belt costs more than several cartridges. HP does not cover damage caused by non-HP supplies. Open the front door and pull the cartridge drawer out by its handle. Lift the empty cyan cartridge from its labelled slot. Take the new cartridge out of its foil bag, rock it gently five or six times, then remove the orange tab and clips. Drop it into the cyan slot, slide the drawer closed and shut the door. The printer reads the chip within about 30 seconds and returns to Ready. Place the empty cartridge in the new box for recycling.

The printer shows a low-cyan or replace-cartridge message on its control panel as the toner nears empty. HP printers usually let you continue printing past that point, but greens and blues will fade page by page. For a 60-page annual report, that means the last third can look noticeably washed out.
