22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter | For 22-inch 16 by 9 Widescreen Monitors | Clear Within a 60-Degree Cone | Left and Right Blackout | Glare-Cutting Matte Face
Turns your picture black for passersby the moment they drift sideways from your chair.
Condition: New
Note: price and availability are subject to change without prior notice
The 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter is in stock at Mascom International, priced at KSh 5,000, and arrives brand new for 22-inch 16:9 widescreen monitors. Its micro-louver film works like a set of tiny blinds. Facing the screen squarely, you read everything clearly; from about 30 degrees off centre on either side, the display goes dark. Your readable zone is roughly 60 degrees wide, and the blackout covers both left and right. A matte face takes the edge off reflections from windows and tube lights. The 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter mounts on slim tabs around the bezel, and our Kimathi Street technicians fit it at no extra cost.
Built for advocates, HR managers, clinic receptionists, cyber café owners and finance teams across Kenya, the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter answers a simple worry. Who else can see this screen? In shared offices around Westlands, Upper Hill and Mombasa Road, desks sit close together and visitors walk past all day. Contracts, staff records, eCitizen applications and bank portals stay on screen for long stretches. Fitted with the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter, the monitor shows its content only to the user in front, while anyone glancing from the aisle sees a dark panel.
Where most Nairobi electronics shops hand over a sheet and hope it fits, Mascom International stocks separate 22-inch cuts for widescreen and taller 16:10 panels and helps you pick the right one. Buyers throughout Kenya report that a quick WhatsApp check before ordering saved them a wasted trip. The 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter suits wide 16:9 screens only, so measure the lit area first or photograph the label on the back of the monitor. Then visit our counter for fitting or order with pay-on-arrival delivery.
Common Questions About the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter
How much does the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter cost in Kenya?
The 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter costs KSh 5,000 brand new at Mascom International, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD. You get the filter sheet, mounting tabs and a cleaning cloth, plus free fitting at our counter and a 6-month warranty on manufacturing defects. Pay-on-arrival delivery covers all 47 counties. The 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter 474 x 297mm is KSh 1,000 cheaper, but it suits taller 16:10 monitors, so choose by your screen's shape rather than the price.
Which fits my screen: the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter or the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter 474 x 297mm?
The 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter fits wide 16:9 monitors, while the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter 474 x 297mm fits taller 16:10 ones. Measure the lit area and divide width by height. A result near 1.78 points to this widescreen filter; a result near 1.6 points to the 474 x 297mm sheet. Most monitors sold new in recent years are widescreen, while many older office units are 16:10. The wrong cut leaves an uncovered strip, so check before you pay.
My monitor box says 22-inch but the screen looks smaller. Which filter do I need?
Many monitors sold as 22-inch have a 21.5-inch viewable panel, and those need the 21.5-inch Monitor Privacy Filter, not the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter. Both cost KSh 5,000 at Mascom International. Look at the specification label on the back of the monitor or in its manual for the viewable diagonal. Better still, measure the glowing picture area in millimetres and send the figures on WhatsApp, and our team will tell you which sheet sits flush.
Is the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter useful for cyber cafés and eCitizen service desks in Kenya?
Yes, the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter suits Kenyan cyber cafés, where customers type KRA PINs, eCitizen passwords and HELB details beside strangers. With the filter on each machine, the next person in the row cannot read the screen from the side. Café owners in Kisumu, Thika and Nairobi use privacy as a selling point when serving students and job applicants. The matte face also helps in bright shopfronts that face the street, where daylight would otherwise wash out the picture.
Can I use the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter on a monitor turned to portrait?
You can, but turning the monitor to portrait moves the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter's privacy from the sides to the top and bottom. The micro-louvers block light in one direction, so rotating the screen rotates the blackout too. Colleagues beside you would then see the screen, while someone standing over you would not. Programmers and editors who run a vertical second screen should keep this in mind. On a normal landscape monitor, left and right privacy works as described.
How do I clean and store the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter?
Clean the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter with the supplied soft cloth, wiping gently in one direction to lift dust and fingerprints. If marks remain, lightly dampen the cloth with plain water rather than spirit or glass cleaner, which can cloud the matte face. When the filter is off the monitor, lay it flat inside a large envelope or folder and keep it away from heavy objects that could crease it. Store it indoors, out of direct sunlight.
Can Mascom International fit the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter for a whole office?
Yes, Mascom International supplies the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter for single desks and for full office rollouts. Send us the monitor models or measured screen sizes on WhatsApp, and we confirm which cut each screen needs, since offices often mix 21.5-inch, 22-inch and 16:10 monitors. You can bring one monitor to Kimathi Street for a sample fitting, then have the rest delivered pay-on-arrival. Your staff can then mount the remaining filters using the same tab layout.
Who should buy the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter and who should skip it?
Buy the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter if you work on a true 22-inch 16:9 monitor in a shared office, café or reception area. Skip it if your screen is 16:10, where the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter 474 x 297mm fits, or 21.5-inch, where the 21.5-inch Monitor Privacy Filter fits. Graphic designers who need full brightness all day should also skip it. Larger widescreens need a bigger sheet, such as the 23.8-inch Monitor Privacy Filter at KSh 5,000.
Technical Specifications
Core Function and Privacy Control
- Micro-louver construction — rows of microscopic blinds send the picture straight ahead and stop it spreading to the sides.
- Readable span of roughly 60 degrees — the person facing the monitor, within about 30 degrees of centre, sees the full picture.
- Left and right blackout — viewers beyond that span on either side see only a dark panel, not your documents or passwords.
- Glare-cutting matte face — diffuses bright reflections from street-facing windows and office lighting so text stays easier to read.
- Small light loss — the film holds back a little brightness, so most users nudge the monitor's brightness setting up a step.
- Lift-out convenience — slide the sheet off when you want to show the screen to a client, colleague or family member.
Compatibility and Screen Matching
- Made for true 22-inch widescreen monitors — panels shaped 16:9, about 1.78 times wider than they are tall.
- Not the taller 16:10 cut — those 22-inch screens need the 22-inch Monitor Privacy Filter 474 x 297mm at KSh 4,000.
- Check the viewable size — monitors sold as 22-inch often carry a 21.5-inch panel, which takes the 21.5-inch Monitor Privacy Filter.
- Measure the glowing picture only — the width and height of the lit area matter, not the outside of the plastic frame.
- No setup on the computer — the filter works on any brand of monitor with no driver, app or display setting needed.
- Sizing support — share your millimetre readings or monitor label photo on WhatsApp and Mascom International confirms the fit.
Build and Mounting Method
- Bezel tabs — small, slim tabs fixed to the monitor's frame hold the sheet, and no glue spreads across the screen itself.
- Black edges — the filter blends with the dark frames of typical office and home monitors rather than drawing attention.
- Thin profile — the sheet adds barely any depth, so the monitor still fits on wall arms, risers and standard stands.
- No residue — taking the sheet off leaves the monitor's own coating clean and unmarked for normal use.
- Screen shield — dust, fingerprints and small knocks land on the filter first, sparing the more delicate monitor surface beneath.
- Low upkeep — a gentle wipe with a soft cloth and plain water keeps the matte face clear for daily use.
Inclusions and After-Sales Service
- Filter sheet — one privacy sheet cut for 22-inch 16:9 widescreen monitors, ready to mount on arrival.
- Mounting tabs — fix to the bezel to hold the filter steady through daily typing, cleaning and desk knocks.

- Free counter fitting — Mascom International technicians mount the filter at Kimathi Street while you wait.
- 6-month warranty — covers manufacturing defects in the filter under normal use.
