The Sims 4 is available at Mascom International for KSh 5,000 as a brand new and sealed PS4 physical disc, ready for any PlayStation 4 and for a PlayStation 5 fitted with a disc drive. Developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts, The Sims 4 reached PS4 on November 17, 2017. You create people, build their homes and steer their lives in a single-player simulation that needs no internet connection for the core game. Pick up The Sims 4 at our store in the Old Mutual Building, First Floor Room 4, on Kimathi Street in Nairobi CBD.
Built for families, university students and anyone who wants a slower game after a long matatu ride home, The Sims 4 rewards patience and imagination rather than fast reflexes. Many PS4 owners in Kenya have shelves full of shooters and football games, yet nothing that lets them design a house room by room or guide a character from a first job to retirement. The Sims 4 fills that gap. Create a Sim lets you shape faces, clothes and personalities, while Build Mode turns an empty plot into a family home. Players from Kilimani to Kisumu and Eldoret can happily spend weeks on one household.
Unlike other electronics retailers in Kenya that sell discs of unclear origin or opened copies passed off as new, Mascom International sells The Sims 4 still in its factory seal, so you are the first person to load it. At Mascom International, we're seeing steady demand for The Sims 4 from parents shopping for teenagers and from adults returning to a series they once played on PC. Customers across Nairobi tell us they like owning a disc they can lend, keep or resell later. Walk in to collect your copy, or order on WhatsApp and pay on arrival anywhere in Kenya.
Common Questions About the Sims 4
How much is The Sims 4 PS4 disc in Kenya?
The Sims 4 PS4 disc costs KSh 5,000 brand new and sealed at Mascom International in Nairobi CBD. That price covers the factory-sealed retail case, the 6-month game-disc warranty and pay-on-arrival delivery to all 47 counties. You pay nothing until the disc is in your hands, at our Kimathi Street counter or at your door. The edition sold as The Sims 4 Collection costs KSh 500 less, at KSh 4,500, and its included content should be confirmed on WhatsApp first.
Should I buy The Sims 4 or The Sims 4 Collection on PS4?
Choose The Sims 4 at KSh 5,000 if you want the standard PS4 disc, and The Sims 4 Collection at KSh 4,500 if the collection edition suits you. Both run The Sims 4 on PS4 and on a PS5 with a disc drive. The Collection's bundled content can vary between prints, so Mascom International confirms it on WhatsApp before you pay. Pick the standard disc for the familiar edition with no questions; pick the Collection when its confirmed contents work for you and the KSh 500 saving matters.
Does The Sims 4 need internet, and what happens during KPLC power cuts?
The Sims 4 plays offline once installed, so a Safaricom or Airtel Kenya connection is only needed for updates and the online Gallery. Download updates over home fibre rather than mobile bundles where you can, since they can be large. Power is the bigger worry in Kenya: a KPLC outage mid-session loses everything since your last save. Save often from the game menu, and consider a small UPS for your PS4 if your area loses power regularly.
Who should buy The Sims 4, and who should skip it?
The Sims 4 suits players who enjoy planning, decorating and storytelling at their own pace, from teenagers to working adults unwinding after the office. It also suits couples and siblings who take turns running one household. Skip it if you want competitive online matches, split-screen play with friends or fast action, because The Sims 4 on PS4 is single-player. Those buyers are better served by a co-op title such as Sackboy A Big Adventure, which Mascom International also stocks at KSh 5,000.
Can The Sims 4 PS4 disc play on a PS5?
Yes, The Sims 4 PS4 disc plays on a PlayStation 5 that has a built-in or attached disc drive, through the console's backward compatibility with PS4 games. Insert the disc, let it install, and it runs as it does on PS4. A PS5 Digital Edition without a disc drive cannot read it. If you are unsure which PS5 you own, look for the disc slot or send a photo to Mascom International on WhatsApp and we will tell you.
What can you actually do in The Sims 4?
In The Sims 4 you create characters, build their homes and guide their relationships and careers. Create a Sim controls appearance and personality, so each Sim reacts differently to the same situation. Build Mode lets you lay walls, choose furniture and landscape a plot. You can visit other neighbourhoods and venues, and share or download households and homes through the Gallery when online. A single family can keep you busy for weeks, which is why buyers throughout Kenya call The Sims 4 good value.
Is The Sims 4 suitable for younger players?
The Sims 4 carries an ESRB Teen rating in North America, meaning it is aimed at players aged 13 and older. Check the age label printed on your copy, since regional ratings differ. The game includes romance and crude humour, so parents of younger children may prefer to play alongside them. It also offers optional in-game purchases of virtual currency, so keep M-Pesa and card details off a child's PlayStation account.
How much storage does The Sims 4 need on a PS4?
The Sims 4 needs a little over 10GB of free space, based on its listed download size of about 10.3GB. A disc install still copies game data to the console, so clear room before you start. On a standard 500GB PS4, that leaves plenty of space for other games. Keep extra room free for future updates, and ask Mascom International about external drives if your console is already full.
Technical Specifications
Gameplay and Modes
- Life simulation from Maxis and Electronic Arts — you guide Sims through homes, jobs and relationships instead of racing against a clock or an opponent.
- Create a Sim — shape faces, bodies, clothing and personality traits, so every character you make behaves and reacts in its own way.
- Build Mode — place walls, rooms, furniture and gardens on an empty plot to design anything from a small starter house to a large family home.
- Careers and relationships — send Sims to work, build friendships and raise children across generations, all inside one long-running save file.
- Neighbourhoods and venues — travel between lots to meet other Sims, so households have places to go beyond their own front door.
- Gallery sharing — upload and download Sims and homes when online, giving you fresh households and houses without paying anything extra.
Compatibility
- Designed for PlayStation 4 — runs on the original PS4, the PS4 Slim and the PS4 Pro, so any PS4 at home can play it.
- PlayStation 5 backward compatibility — plays on any PS5 with a built-in or attached disc drive, letting you keep the disc after upgrading consoles.
- PS5 Digital Edition limits — a PS5 with no disc drive cannot read this disc, so check your console model before you place an order.
- Offline play — the core game runs without internet, which helps when data bundles run low or your home connection drops for the day.
- Internet for extras only — updates and the Gallery need a connection, and a home fibre line or mobile hotspot handles both comfortably.
- Controller support — built around the DualShock 4 on PS4, and played with the DualSense controller when you load the disc on a PS5.
Disc and Age Rating
- Blu-ray game disc — the standard PS4 format, read by the console's built-in drive and installed to its internal storage before play.
- Factory sealed — the retail case reaches you unopened under shrink-wrap, so the disc is unused and free of handling marks.
- ESRB Teen rating in North America — aimed at ages 13 and up, and parents should check the regional age label printed on the case.
- About 10.3GB listed download size — budget slightly more free space so later updates install without asking you to delete other games.
- Optional in-game purchases of virtual currency — the game plays fully without them, but parents should know the option exists.
- PS4 release on November 17, 2017 — a mature title with years of updates behind it, so the game is stable and well supported.
