The Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery is in stock at Mascom International, priced at KSh 3,000 for a brand new 10.8V 4400mAh replacement pack. The Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery replaces packs labelled PA5023U and PA5024U, along with PA5025U and PA5026U. Beyond the C850 and C855, it fits the Satellite C840, C870, L840, L850, L855, L870, P850, P855 and S855, plus the later Satellite C50-A, C55-A, L70-A and L75-A. Collect it from Mascom International on the first floor of the Old Mutual Building, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD, or order delivery to your door.
Designed for the many Kenyans who still work on a Satellite C850 or one of its siblings, the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery suits university students at JKUAT, Strathmore and the University of Nairobi, cyber café operators, sales teams and NGO field staff. These laptops still handle Office, browsing, Zoom calls and online banking, yet thousands now carry batteries that last only minutes. Each KPLC power cut then cuts off a lecture recording or an unsaved report. A brand new Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery brings back proper unplugged time for the library, the hostel and the field.
Unlike other electronics retailers in Kenya that hand over the first 10.8V pack on the shelf, Mascom International checks the code against your laptop before you pay. Bring the laptop to the counter so the team can check the fit, or send a WhatsApp photo of the old battery label or the sticker under the machine. Customers across Nairobi tell us the C850 family is confusing because so many models share one pack, and a quick photo settles it. Order the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery with pay-on-arrival delivery, or walk in and match it yourself.
Common Questions About the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery
How much is the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery in Kenya?
The Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery costs KSh 3,000 brand new at Mascom International on Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD. The price includes a 6-month warranty against manufacturing defects on the pack. A charger is not part of the deal, and neither is fitting labour, though the team will check the fit at the counter when you bring the laptop. Buyers outside Nairobi pay on arrival, after the rider hands over the battery and they have compared its code with the old one.
Which laptops does the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery fit?
The Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery fits the Satellite C840, C850, C850D, C855, C855D, C870, C870D and C875 series. It also suits the Satellite L840, L850, L855, L870 and L875, the P845, P850, P855, P870 and P875, and the S855 and S875. Later Satellite C50-A, C55-A, C75D-A, L70-A and L75-A models take the same pack. With so many names in one family, the battery code is the surest guide to a correct fit.
Do PA5023U and PA5024U batteries fit the same laptops?
Yes, PA5023U and PA5024U are two codes for the same 10.8V pack, and the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery replaces both. The same part also covers PA5025U-1BRS, PA5026U-1BRS, PA5027U-1BRS, PA5121U-1BRS and the PABAS259 to PABAS263 and PABAS274 codes. One code to watch is PA5109U, which belongs to a different battery and will not match. If your label shows PA5109U, or any code not listed here, send a photo to Mascom International before ordering.
How does the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery compare with the Toshiba PA3533U Laptop Battery?
Both are 10.8V Toshiba packs, but they belong to different laptop generations and do not swap. The Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery fits the C850, L850 and C55-A families, while the Toshiba PA3533U Laptop Battery fits the earlier Satellite A200, A300 and L500 laptops. The PA3533U costs KSh 2,400, which is KSh 600 below this pack. Your laptop's model sticker decides it: a C or L number in the 800 series, or a C55-A, points to this battery.
Will the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery help a student through hostel power cuts?
Yes, a fresh Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery stores about 47.5 watt-hours, giving a student enough unplugged time to finish typing, save assignments and shut down when the hostel loses power. Real runtime depends on screen brightness, Wi-Fi use and the laptop's age, so plan for backup time rather than a full day. Students at Kenyatta, Moi and JKUAT often work in libraries with few sockets, and a healthy battery means you no longer have to sit beside the wall.
Can I replace the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery myself?
Yes, on the Satellite C850 and most of its siblings, the battery is removable from the underside and releases with the catch beside it. Shut the laptop down, unplug the adapter, slide the catch, lift the old pack out and click the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery into place. Charge it to full before working unplugged. If the catch feels stuck or the pack does not seat flat, bring the laptop to Mascom International and the team will check the fit.
Who should buy the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery, and who should skip it?
Buy the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery if your C850, L850, C55-A or related model still runs well and only the battery has worn out. Skip it if the label on your old pack reads PA5109U, because that battery uses a different fit. Skip it too if the laptop is failing in other ways, such as a cracked hinge or a dying hard drive; a newer used business laptop such as an HP ProBook or Lenovo ThinkPad will give you better value.
Can I pay for the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery with M-Pesa on delivery?
Yes, the Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery ships on pay-on-arrival terms, and you can pay the rider by M-Pesa or cash once the pack is in your hand. Check that the code on the new label matches your old battery before paying. Nakuru, Eldoret and Kisumu orders arrive the next business day, and Nairobi orders arrive the same day. In the shop, Lipa na M-Pesa, cash and card all work at the Mascom International counter on Kimathi Street.
Technical Specifications
Cell and Capacity
- 10.8V nominal voltage, matching what the Satellite C850 family draws, so the laptop charges the pack and reads its level correctly.
- 4400mAh rated capacity, roughly 47.5 watt-hours of energy, enough to carry the laptop through a typing session or a power cut.
- Lithium-ion chemistry that tolerates partial charges, so plugging in for a few minutes between classes does no harm.
- Brand new cells in a new casing, giving you the full rated capacity instead of the faded output of a worn pack.
- Steady power while unplugged keeps the laptop running when the mains dips, protecting open documents from sudden shutdowns.
Compatibility and Model Matching
- Replaces PA5023U-1BRS, PA5024U-1BRS, PA5025U-1BRS, PA5026U-1BRS, PA5027U-1BRS and PA5121U-1BRS, read from the label on the old pack.
- Fits Satellite C840, C850, C850D, C855, C855D, C870, C870D and C875, the core models this battery is known for.
- Fits Satellite L840, L850, L855, L870 and L875, plus P845, P850, P855, P870, P875, S855 and S875 versions.
- Fits later Satellite C50-A, C55-A, C75D-A, L70-A and L75-A laptops, which kept the same battery shape.
- Not compatible with PA5109U packs, nor with older Toshiba codes such as PA3533U or PA3536U.
Build and Safety
- Rigid plastic housing shaped like the original, clicking flush into the rear battery bay on the underside of the laptop.
- Protection circuitry, standard in lithium-ion laptop packs, cuts current on overcharge, overheating or a short circuit.
- Label shows voltage, capacity and part code, so you can match it against your old pack before fitting.
- Charges through the laptop and its normal Toshiba adapter, so no external charger or cradle is needed.
- Use the laptop on a firm surface rather than a bed or lap cushion, so heat can escape and the cells last longer.
Charging and Care
- Charge to 100 percent on the original Toshiba adapter before the first session away from a socket.
- Short top-ups through the day are fine; lithium-ion cells do not need full drain cycles to stay healthy.
- If the laptop goes unused over a long holiday, leave the battery at about half charge in a cool spot.
- Take out any pack that swells, leaks or heats up suddenly, and have it inspected before using the laptop again.
- Turning down brightness and closing unused browser tabs stretches runtime noticeably on battery power.
Inclusions
- One brand new Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery, ready for a matching Satellite C, L, P or S series laptop.
- No charger in the package; compatible laptop adapters are sold separately at Mascom International if yours has also failed.
- Fitting labour is not included in the price, although staff will check the fit when you bring the laptop.
- The removable pack releases with the catch on the underside, so swapping it needs no screwdriver.
- The part code printed on the label lets you verify the match on delivery before paying the rider.
Package Contents
Your order contains one brand new Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop Battery, rated 10.8V 4400mAh, and nothing else. No charger, power cord or tool comes with it. If your Toshiba adapter has failed as well, Mascom International sells compatible laptop adapters separately at the Kimathi Street shop. The price does not include fitting labour, but if you bring the laptop in, the team will check that the pack clicks into the bay and starts to charge.
