SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe 64GB is available at Mascom International for KSh 3,050, brand new and sealed, with a USB Type-C plug on one end and a USB Type-A plug on the other. The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe (model SDDDC4-064G-G46) is a USB 3.1 flash drive, also labelled USB 3.2 Gen 1, with a solid metal casing and a swivel that covers whichever plug you are not using. SanDisk rates it for read speeds of up to 400MB/s on a fast port. Stock sits at our shop in the Old Mutual Building, First Floor Room 4, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD.
Built for university students, accountants, journalists and sales teams across Kenya, the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe solves a daily problem: getting files off a phone without a cable, a laptop or mobile data. Plug the Type-C end into an Android phone or an iPhone 15 or later, copy your photos, KRA PIN certificate or M-Pesa statements, then flip the drive and plug the Type-A end into an office desktop or a cyber cafe PC. There is no WhatsApp compression and no bundle burned on uploads. On Android, the SanDisk Memory Zone app also backs up a phone on a schedule.
Unlike the unbranded flash drives sold on many Nairobi streets, which often report fake capacities and fail within months, the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe 64GB is genuine SanDisk stock with its real capacity. The metal body also outlasts plastic drives that crack in a handbag or a matatu seat pocket. Customers across Nairobi tell us they keep the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe on their car keys for presentations and print jobs. Walk into the shop on Kimathi Street to test it on your own phone before paying, or order on WhatsApp for pay-on-arrival delivery anywhere in Kenya.
Common Questions About the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe
How much is the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe 64GB in Kenya?
The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe 64GB costs KSh 3,050 as sealed retail stock at Mascom International in Nairobi CBD. That price includes the 6-month Mascom International warranty and pay-on-arrival delivery to all 47 counties. The 128GB version of the same drive costs KSh 3,850, so doubling the space adds KSh 800. If you only ever plug into computers, the USB-A-only SanDisk Ultra Luxe 64GB costs KSh 2,800, which is KSh 250 less but has no Type-C plug for phones.
Is the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe 64GB better than the SanDisk Ultra Luxe 64GB?
For phone users, yes: the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe 64GB adds a USB Type-C plug that the KSh 2,800 Ultra Luxe lacks. Both are metal SanDisk drives with 64GB of space. The Ultra Luxe only fits USB-A ports on laptops, desktops, TVs and car radios. The Dual Drive Luxe fits those too, plus Type-C phones, iPads and MacBooks. Pay the extra KSh 250 if you move files off a phone. Choose the Ultra Luxe if the drive will live in an office PC or a car stereo.
Will the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe work with my Android phone in Kenya?
The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe works with most Android phones sold in Kenya that have a USB Type-C port and OTG support. That covers recent Samsung Galaxy, Tecno, Infinix, Redmi, Oppo and Itel models. It needs no Safaricom, Airtel or Telkom bundle and no Wi-Fi, because files move straight from phone to drive. Most phones open it in the Files app the moment you plug it in. On some older handsets, switch on OTG in settings first. Bring your phone to the shop and we will test it with you.
How many photos and videos fit on the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe 64GB?
The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe 64GB holds about 20,000 phone photos at 12MP, or roughly 8 hours of 1080p video. Usable space is a little under 64GB because formatting takes a share, as on every drive. That is enough for a year of family photos, a semester of recorded lectures, or several months of scanned receipts and invoices for a small business. If you film in 4K or want to back up a whole phone, the 128GB version gives you twice the room.
Does the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe work with iPhone and iPad?
The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe works with iPhone 15 and later models through their USB Type-C port and the built-in Files app. Plug it in, open Files, and the drive appears under Locations, where you can copy photos, PDFs and documents both ways. USB-C iPads and MacBooks read it the same way with no extra software. Older iPhones with a Lightning port can use the Type-A end through the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, which is sold separately.
Who should buy the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe 64GB, and who should skip it?
Buy the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe 64GB if you move documents, photos and slides between a phone and a computer every week. Students at Kenyatta University and JKUAT, lawyers carrying court bundles and estate agents sharing property photos get the most from it. Skip it if you need to back up a large phone or store hours of camera footage; the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Go 256GB in our current stock suits that job better. Skip it too if you only use desktops, where the cheaper Ultra Luxe does the same work.
Is the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe fast enough for large files?
SanDisk rates the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe at up to 400MB/s read speed, which means large files open from it quickly. At that rate, reading a 1GB video takes a few seconds on a fast port. Write speeds, the rate at which you copy files onto the drive, are lower than read speeds, as on most flash drives. Real times depend on the phone or computer. Older USB 2.0 ports on some office desktops slow every drive down, so use a blue USB 3.0 port where you can.
How durable is the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe in daily Kenyan use?
The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe has a metal casing that resists the bending and cracking that ruin plastic drives on key rings. The swivel sleeve covers the unused plug, which keeps road dust and bag grit out of the connector. Keep it away from water, because SanDisk does not sell this model as waterproof. If a KPLC power cut shuts down a desktop mid-copy, check the copied files afterwards, since an interrupted transfer can damage files on any brand of drive.
Technical Specifications
Core Function and Performance
- 64GB capacity — about 20,000 12MP photos or roughly 8 hours of 1080p video stored on one small drive.
- USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface, also labelled USB 3.2 Gen 1 — the standard behind the blue USB ports on most laptops.
- Read speeds of up to 400MB/s, as rated by SanDisk — big files open or copy off the drive in seconds.
- Write speeds lower than read speeds — copying a large folder onto the drive takes longer than reading it back.
- Two plugs on one drive — move files from phone to computer without a cable, Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Plug and play on Windows, macOS, Android and iPadOS — no driver to install before the drive shows up.
- Model SDDDC4-064G-G46 — the SanDisk part number to match against the code printed on the sealed pack.
Compatibility
- USB Type-C plug — fits Android phones, iPhone 15 and later, USB-C iPads, MacBooks and most current Windows laptops.
- USB Type-A plug — fits older laptops, office desktops, cyber cafe PCs, smart TVs and car radios with USB slots.
- Android phones need OTG support — on-the-go mode, which lets a phone read a USB drive; most recent handsets have it.
- SanDisk Memory Zone app for Android — browse files, back up photos and free up phone storage from one screen.
- iPhone and iPad use the built-in Files app — no SanDisk app download is needed on those devices.
- Works with Windows 10 and later and with macOS — open it like any other drive in File Explorer or Finder.
- Plays films and music on TVs and car stereos through Type-A — where the device supports the file type.
Build and Design
- All-metal casing — survives being dropped, sat on or squeezed in a bag far better than a plastic drive.
- Swivel sleeve rotates to cover the unused plug — shields the connector from dust and pocket lint between uses.
- Key ring loop — hang it on house or car keys so it travels with you and rarely goes missing.
- Small and light — about the length of a house key, so it slips into a wallet coin pocket.
- Silver finish — a plain look that suits a boardroom presentation as well as a lecture hall.
- No cap to lose — the swivel design means nothing comes off the drive when you plug it in.
- Not sold as waterproof — keep it dry and away from spilled tea and rain.
