Marvel's Avengers | PS4 Physical Disc | Offline Story Campaign | Up to 4-Player Online Co-op
A superhero brawler following Kamala Khan as she rebuilds a broken team against A.I.M., playable alone without a connection.
Condition: New
Note: price and availability are subject to change without prior notice
Marvel's Avengers is available at Mascom International for KSh 4,000, a brand new and sealed PS4 disc. Made by Crystal Dynamics and first published by Square Enix in September 2020, Marvel's Avengers lets you fight as Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Ms. Marvel. Free updates later added heroes such as Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, Black Panther and the PlayStation-only Spider-Man. Our store on the first floor of the Old Mutual Building, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD has the disc on the shelf for you to inspect.
Designed for Marvel film fans and teenagers who grew up on the movies, Marvel's Avengers handles the big question first: can you still play it today? Official support ended on 30 September 2023 and the game left digital stores that day, which is why a physical disc is now the way to own it. The story campaign plays fully offline, so it stays playable even without internet. Buyers in Kisumu and Nakuru who missed it on the PlayStation Store can still get a factory-sealed copy here. A sealed disc of Marvel's Avengers also has no account lock, so it can be lent to a sibling or resold once you finish the story.
Unlike other electronics retailers in Kenya that list old games without explaining what changed, Mascom International tells you plainly what still works and what does not. The in-game Marketplace closed in March 2023, no new content is coming, and the cosmetics once sold there were unlocked free for every player. At Mascom International, we're seeing Marvel's Avengers bought as a story game rather than a long-term online one. Pay at the counter by cash or M-Pesa, or order on WhatsApp for pay-on-arrival delivery.
Common Questions About the Marvel's Avengers
How much is Marvel's Avengers for PS4 in Kenya?
Marvel's Avengers costs KSh 4,000 at Mascom International in Nairobi CBD, brand new and sealed. The price includes the PS4 game disc in its original case, a 6-month Mascom International warranty against a disc that will not read, and pay-on-arrival delivery anywhere in Kenya. It is KSh 300 above LEGO Marvel's Avengers at KSh 3,700 and KSh 500 below Marvel vs Capcom Infinite at KSh 4,500, both also on our shelf.
Can you still play Marvel's Avengers after support ended?
Yes, Marvel's Avengers still plays, because the single-player campaign runs fully offline from the disc. Crystal Dynamics ended support on 30 September 2023 and removed the game from digital stores the same day. When announcing the shutdown, the team said owners keep access to single-player and multiplayer content and that servers would remain online indefinitely. Online features depend on the publisher keeping those servers running, so treat the offline story as what you are paying for. Mascom International cannot guarantee how long online co-op will keep working in Kenya.
What happened to the Marketplace and cosmetics in Marvel's Avengers?
The Marketplace in Marvel's Avengers was permanently switched off with the final update on 31 March 2023. Every outfit and emote from the Marketplace, Shipments and Challenge Cards was then given free to all players. Any leftover paid currency was converted into in-game currency. In practical terms, there is nothing more to buy inside the game, and no M-Pesa top-up or PlayStation Store card is needed to unlock extra looks.
Is Marvel's Avengers better than LEGO Marvel's Avengers?
Marvel's Avengers is a serious action game with realistic heroes, loot-based gear and combo-heavy fighting, aimed at teenagers and adults. LEGO Marvel's Avengers, at KSh 3,700, retells the films with LEGO humour, light puzzles and easy couch co-op that suits young children. Choose Marvel's Avengers if you want a darker, more cinematic story and deeper combat. Choose the LEGO game if two family members want to play side by side on one screen.
Does Marvel's Avengers work offline during KPLC power cuts or without Wi-Fi?
The Marvel's Avengers campaign needs no internet, so a dropped Safaricom or Airtel Kenya connection will not stop the story. Power is a different matter, because a KPLC outage switches off the PS4 and loses progress since your last save. The disc may also ask to install updates the first time you connect, which can be several gigabytes. Downloading those on Wi-Fi rather than a mobile bundle keeps data costs down.
Will Marvel's Avengers on PS4 play on a PS5?
The PS4 disc of Marvel's Avengers runs on a PS5 fitted with a disc drive through Sony's backward compatibility, which covers most PS4 games. A PS5 Digital Edition without a drive cannot read it. A dedicated PS5 version launched in March 2021 with a free upgrade for PS4 owners, but with the game removed from stores we cannot promise that upgrade path still works. Treat this disc as a PS4 game first.
Can friends play Marvel's Avengers together in Kenya?
Marvel's Avengers offers online co-op for up to four players, but only in certain missions outside the main story. Each player needs their own console, their own copy and a PlayStation Plus subscription for online play on PS4. The campaign itself is single-player, and there is no split-screen mode for two people on one television. Families who want to share one console should look at a LEGO title instead. LEGO Marvel Collection at KSh 4,000 bundles three LEGO Marvel games for couch play.
Who should buy Marvel's Avengers and who should skip it?
Marvel's Avengers suits fans who want a cinematic Marvel story they can finish offline, with a roster that grew to over a dozen heroes. It is the wrong pick for anyone wanting fresh updates, seasonal events with new rewards, or an active community, because development has stopped. Younger children and families sharing one screen will enjoy LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 at KSh 3,800 more. Competitive players should look at Marvel vs Capcom Infinite.
Technical Specifications
Core Function and Gameplay
- Third-person action game where you punch, fly and fire through missions as classic Avengers and newer heroes like Kamala Khan.
- Story campaign follows Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, as she reunites the team against the A.I.M. organisation.
- Gear and skill systems let you upgrade each hero over time, so your favourite character grows stronger as you play.
- Six side missions unlock during the story, followed by a final mission called Reigning Supreme once they are done.
- Launch heroes are Ms. Marvel, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor and Black Widow, each with a distinct fighting style.
- Later free heroes include Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Jane Foster as Mighty Thor and Winter Soldier.
Compatibility and System Support
- Made for PlayStation 4, and plays on the original PS4, the PS4 Slim and the PS4 Pro consoles.
- Runs on PS5 consoles that have a disc drive through backward compatibility, which Sony provides for most PS4 discs.
- Cannot load on a PS5 Digital Edition unless a separate disc drive has been attached to that console.
- Campaign plays fully offline, so it remains playable regardless of what happens to the online servers later.
- Online co-op for up to four players needs PlayStation Plus, an internet connection and the publisher's servers staying active.
- Spider-Man was added as a PlayStation-only hero, so he appears on this PS4 version once the game is updated online.
Build and Disc Format
- Standard PS4 Blu-ray game disc that the console reads once and installs to its internal storage before first play.
- The disc must stay in the console to launch the game, which acts as your proof of ownership on every start.
- Packed in the standard blue PS4 case with printed artwork, under the original factory shrink wrap.
- Physical copies are not tied to one PlayStation account, so the disc can be lent to a sibling or resold later.
- Store the disc in its case away from dust and direct sun, as deep scratches can stop the drive reading it.
Inclusions and Content
- The full story campaign and post-story missions, all playable from the disc without internet access.
- Marketplace, Shipments and Challenge Card cosmetics were made free for all players after the March 2023 final update.
- The in-game Marketplace is permanently closed, so there are no further purchases to make inside the game.
- Hero updates released after launch download as patches once the console connects to the internet.
- Support and new content ended on 30 September 2023, so the game will not receive further fixes or additions.
Package Contents
Each copy of Marvel's Avengers arrives as one sealed PS4 game case containing the game disc, exactly as it was packed for retail. The shrink wrap is unbroken, and you are welcome to open it at our counter so we can confirm the disc is clean. No console, controller, cable or PlayStation Plus subscription comes with it. Any free hero updates download separately once your PS4 goes online.
