Note: price and availability are subject to change without prior notice
Mascom International stocks the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter at KSh 5,000, brand new and sealed, in black. It is made for model A2442, the 2021 Apple silicon 14-inch laptop with a notch at the top of its display. The A-number sits in small print on the base, so checking the fit takes seconds before you order. Micro-louver film inside the sheet keeps your screen clear from the front and dark from about 30 degrees to the left or right. The matte face cuts glare, and slim edge tabs hold the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter in place. Fitting at our Kimathi Street store in Nairobi CBD is included.
Designed for executives, content creators, doctors and sales teams, the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter suits people who carry a compact laptop into busy places. The 14-inch MacBook Pro goes everywhere: boardrooms in Upper Hill, airport lounges at JKIA, client visits in Industrial Area and SGR trips to Mombasa. In each, someone nearby can read a patient record, a pitch deck or a Safaricom business dashboard over your shoulder. With the filter fitted, they see a dark panel. You keep full brightness and colour from your own seat.
Where most Nairobi electronics shops stock only standard 13-inch and 14-inch widescreen sheets, Mascom International carries the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter shaped for this model's taller display. Buyers throughout Kenya report that a generic 14-inch sheet leaves an exposed strip on this MacBook, which defeats the purpose. We fit the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter at the counter while you wait, so the edges line up with the bezel. If you prefer, order with pay-on-arrival delivery and mount it yourself using the supplied tabs.
Common Questions About the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter
How much does the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter cost in Kenya?
The MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter sells for KSh 5,000 brand new at Mascom International, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD. The price covers the filter sheet, its mounting tabs, a cleaning cloth, fitting by our technicians and a 6-month warranty on manufacturing defects. Delivery across Kenya is pay-on-arrival, so you check the filter before paying. It is KSh 1,000 above the KSh 4,000 filter for 13-inch MacBook Pro models such as the A2338.
How do I tell the A2442 apart from other 14-inch and 13-inch MacBook Pro models?
Check the base of your laptop, where the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 carries the print Model A2442. On screen, this model has a notch at the top centre of the display and no Touch Bar. Later 14-inch MacBook Pro models use different A-numbers, so the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter is sold for the A2442 alone. If your base shows another number, send it to Mascom International on WhatsApp and we will advise on fit.
Should I get this or the 14-inch Laptop Privacy Filter Wide at KSh 3,500?
Choose the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter for this MacBook, even though it costs KSh 1,500 more. The 14-inch Laptop Privacy Filter Wide is a 16:10 cut of about 302 x 189mm, made for Windows laptops with that panel shape. The plain 14-inch Laptop Privacy Filter is a 16:9 cut of about 310 x 175mm. Neither is shaped for the A2442 display. Windows laptop owners should measure their lit screen area and pick one of those two instead.
Will the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter dull the display for photo and video editing?
Yes, any privacy filter makes the screen look slightly dimmer, and colour shifts as you move off centre. For writing, email, spreadsheets and calls, the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter is easy to work through. For colour-critical photo or video grading, lift it off the tabs for that session, then refit it in seconds. Content creators across Nairobi tell us they keep it on in public and remove it when editing at their own desk.
Does it work for video calls on Safaricom or Airtel Kenya mobile data?
Yes, the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter has no effect on the webcam, microphone or Wi-Fi, so calls run as normal. It only changes who can see the display. That helps when you tether to Safaricom or Airtel Kenya on a hotel balcony or in a hospital corridor, where people walk past behind and beside you. Viewers at your side see darkness. Someone standing straight behind your chair can still see the screen, so sit with your back to a wall when possible.
How is the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter attached?
The MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter holds on with slim mounting tabs placed along the bezel. No glue touches the display panel, so the filter lifts away without residue and goes back onto the same tabs. It is not magnetic. Mascom International technicians place the tabs and align the sheet at our Kimathi Street counter at no extra cost, or you can attach it yourself after delivery with the tabs in the pack.
Is the filter worth buying for a MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 used by a doctor or lawyer?
Yes, the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter is worth it for anyone who opens patient notes or case files in shared spaces. At Mascom International, we're seeing clinic staff and advocates buy it after a near miss in a waiting room or court corridor. KSh 5,000 spread over the 6-month warranty is about KSh 27 a day. Compared with the cost of exposed client data, that is a small, fixed expense with fitting already included.
Who should buy the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter, and who should skip it?
Buy the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 Privacy Filter if you own the 2021 A2442 and work on private material in public or open-plan spaces. Skip it if you mainly share your screen with people seated beside you, such as tutoring or design reviews. Owners of the 16-inch A2485 should choose its tab-mount filter at KSh 5,000 or the magnetic version at KSh 6,000. Owners of 13-inch MacBook Pro models need the KSh 4,000 13-inch filter.
Technical Specifications
Core Function
- Micro-louver privacy film — fine vertical slats in the sheet let light pass straight ahead and block it at angles.
- Clear viewing cone of about 60 degrees — you see the display as normal from your seat in front of it.
- Dark from roughly 30 degrees off centre — people to either side see black instead of your work.
- Two-way privacy — both the left and right neighbours are covered, on a plane, in a lounge or at a hot desk.
- Matte anti-glare layer — reduces reflections from windows and lights, which helps under bright office ceilings.
- Quick to remove — take it off for colour-critical editing, then put it back on the same tabs.
Compatibility
- Cut for the MacBook Pro 14-inch A2442 — the 2021 Apple silicon model with a notch at the top of its display.
- Identified by the base print — the words Model A2442 appear in small text on the underside.
- Separate from other 14-inch MacBook Pro A-numbers — later models are not covered by this listing.
- Not for 14-inch Windows laptops — those use the 14-inch Laptop Privacy Filter or the Wide version instead.
- Confirm your fit first — send the A-number or the measured lit screen area in millimetres to our WhatsApp line.
Build
- Slim bezel mounting tabs — the sheet sits on tabs at the edges, with no glue across the display panel.
- Residue-free lift-off — removing the filter leaves the original display clean and unmarked.
- Non-magnetic mount — a tab system rather than a magnetic edge, held firmly by the tabs placed on the bezel.
- Black edges — blend with the dark border around the MacBook display and draw no attention.
- Surface protection — dust and fingerprints land on the filter, which is easier to wipe than the display glass.
- Brand new, unbranded build — a generic filter shaped to this model, with no logo on its face.
Inclusions
- Fitting at our Kimathi Street counter — Mascom International technicians align and mount the filter at no extra charge.
- Tabs for home fitting — delivered orders include everything needed to mount the filter yourself.
- Cleaning cloth supplied — wipes away smudges and dust from both the filter and display.
- 6-month warranty — covers manufacturing defects, with claims handled at our Nairobi CBD service desk.
- Pay-on-arrival delivery — inspect the filter on arrival before paying, in any of Kenya's 47 counties.
