Blue shades for logos, charts and school project covers.
Condition: New
Note: price and availability are subject to change without prior notice
Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner is in stock at Mascom International, priced at KSh 2,950, and it fills the cyan slot of HP printers that normally take the HP CF531A. It is made by Lightwave as a compatible cartridge, not by HP, and each one we hand over is brand new and sealed. For planning, HP rates its own CF531A at about 900 pages. Collect the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner from Mascom International at Old Mutual Building, First Floor Room 4, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD, or have it delivered to your county with payment on arrival.
Designed for marketing teams, schools, churches and print kiosks, the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner supplies the blue that appears in company logos, bar charts, maps and sky backgrounds. Cyan also blends with yellow for greens and with magenta for purples, so a single brochure can draw on it across the whole page. When cyan runs empty, an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180n or M181fw halts colour work and warns you on its panel. Replacing only the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner gets that machine back to printing reports and posters without buying three colours you still have in stock.
Unlike other electronics retailers in Kenya that sell colour cartridges only as bundles, Mascom International stocks each Lightwave colour as its own product. Black, magenta and yellow are listed separately, and the full four-cartridge set costs KSh 11,800 when you want everything at once. Customers across Nairobi tell us that buying one colour at a time keeps their stationery spending predictable. Bring the empty cyan cartridge to our Kimathi Street shop for a quick code check, or place your order on WhatsApp and pay through Lipa na M-Pesa once the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner reaches you.
Common Questions About the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner
What is the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner price in Kenya?
The Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner sells for KSh 2,950 at Mascom International in Nairobi CBD as a sealed compatible cartridge. Your payment covers one cyan cartridge, a 6-month warranty for manufacturing defects and pay-on-arrival delivery anywhere in Kenya. Black, magenta and yellow are separate products at the same KSh 2,950 each, and all four together cost KSh 11,800. Ordering cyan alone makes sense when it is the only colour your printer flags as low.
Why does my HP printer stop when only the cyan cartridge is empty?
An HP M180n or M181fw needs all four cartridges in working order, so an empty cyan cartridge pauses colour printing even when black, magenta and yellow are full. Colour laser printers build every shade by layering the four toners, and the machine will not guess at a missing layer. Fitting a Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner clears the warning and restores normal output. Keeping one spare cyan on hand avoids losing a morning to a blank control panel.
Can I use the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner alongside original HP colour cartridges?
Yes, the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner can sit next to original HP magenta, yellow and black cartridges in the same printer, because each colour has its own independent slot. Many offices switch one colour at a time as the HP cartridges empty. Shades may look slightly different from an all-HP set, since the toners come from different makers. For everyday charts, handouts and notices that difference rarely matters; for exact brand blues, test one page before a large print run.
How does the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner compare with the HP CF531A?
The Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner costs less than an original HP CF531A, while the HP cartridge carries HP branding and a rated yield of about 900 pages. Both fit the same cyan slot in the same printers. Mascom International cannot quote a separate yield for the Lightwave cartridge, because Lightwave does not publish one. Choose the HP CF531A if a client signs off on exact corporate colours. Choose the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner for school notes, team reports and church programmes printed every week.
Will the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner print a company logo in the right blue?
The Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner prints blue logos clearly on plain office paper, though the exact shade can differ a little from an all-HP setup. Logos in navy or teal are built from cyan mixed with other toners, so the final colour also depends on the magenta and black in the machine. Print one test page and hold it beside your letterhead or business card. If a brand manual demands an exact match, original HP cartridges are the safer path.
How do Kenyan heat and humidity affect the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner?
Normal office conditions in Nairobi, Kisumu or Mombasa do not harm the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner, provided the spare stays sealed until use. Heat and coastal humidity can make loose toner clump, so store packs in a closed cupboard rather than a sunny windowsill or a hot car boot. If a KPLC power cut stops a print job halfway, reprint the page once power returns. A small UPS for the printer protects the machine during frequent outages.
Which printers accept the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner?
The Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner fits HP printers that use the CF531A cyan cartridge, chiefly the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180n and M181fw. The HP Color LaserJet Pro M154nw and MFP M180fndw belong to the same 205A family. Look at the label on your current cyan cartridge before ordering. A WhatsApp photo of that label lets our team confirm the match within minutes, which saves a wasted trip to Kimathi Street.
Who is the Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner for, and who should skip it?
The Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner suits schools, churches, small agencies and home businesses that print colour charts, notices and flyers on an HP 205A printer and want a lower cost per colour. It is not a good fit for design studios proofing exact client colours, or for printers under an HP service plan that requires HP supplies. Those buyers should choose the original HP CF531A. Owners of printers built for other cartridge codes should check their label first.
Technical Specifications
Core Function
- Cyan laser toner cartridge — a Lightwave compatible supply that replaces the HP CF531A in printers built for HP 205A cartridges.
- Blue foundation colour — cyan prints blues on its own and mixes with yellow and magenta to make greens, teals and purples.
- Common uses — company logos, bar and pie charts, maps, classroom posters and sky or water tones in photos.
- Reference yield — HP rates its own CF531A at about 900 pages, measured under the ISO/IEC 19798 test method.
- Single-colour purchase — KSh 2,950 buys the cyan cartridge on its own, so you restock only the colour your printer reports as low.
- Fused powder — heat bonds the toner to the sheet, so colour handouts survive being folded and passed around a meeting.
- Coverage drives output — a page of text with one small blue logo uses little cyan, while a full-page sky photo drains it quickly.
Compatibility
- HP 205A cyan position — made for printers whose cyan cartridge label reads CF531A.
- HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180n — a compact all-in-one with network printing, scanning and copying for a small team.
- HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M181fw — adds fax and Wi-Fi, so staff can print a chart straight from a phone or laptop.
- HP Color LaserJet Pro M154nw and MFP M180fndw — both use the same 205A cartridge family and accept this cyan cartridge.
- Works beside HP originals — each colour sits in its own slot, so Lightwave cyan runs next to HP black, magenta or yellow.
- Update caution — some HP firmware releases restrict third-party cartridges, so check with Mascom International before installing one.
Build and Handling
- Factory-sealed bag — the cartridge reaches you inside its protective wrap and box, never opened or refilled at our shop.
- Lightwave labelling — the pack names Lightwave clearly, so nobody in the office mistakes it for an HP product.
- Keep the seal intact — an unopened bag protects the powder from damp air and bright light while it waits in storage.
- Cool storage — boxes last best lying flat in a shaded cupboard, away from windows, generators and other warm equipment.
- Gentle rocking — tilt the cartridge side to side a few times before fitting, so the first colour pages print evenly.
- Clean grip — hold it by the plastic body and avoid the roller, since fingerprints there can show up as faint marks.
Inclusions
- One Lightwave cyan cartridge — supplied alone in its sealed retail pack, ready for the cyan slot.
- 6-month warranty — protects against manufacturing defects, with claims handled at our Nairobi CBD service desk.
- Pay-on-arrival delivery — offered in every one of Kenya's 47 counties, with payment only after the parcel arrives.
- Code check on WhatsApp — a photo of your empty cyan cartridge lets our team confirm the CF531A match before dispatch.
- Other colours separate — black, magenta and yellow Lightwave 205A cartridges are listed as their own products at KSh 2,950 each.
- Four-colour bundle — the cyan, black, magenta and yellow cartridges together total KSh 11,800 for offices stocking a complete spare kit.
Package Contents
The Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner pack holds one Lightwave cyan toner cartridge in its sealed protective bag and box. You will find no cables, software or extra parts inside, because the printer needs nothing beyond the cartridge itself. The black, magenta and yellow cartridges do not come with it; each is sold as a separate product. Store the pack unopened until the printer panel asks for cyan, so the toner inside stays dry and loose.
Warranty
The Lightwave 205A Cyan Toner comes with a 6-month warranty from Mascom International, covering manufacturing defects under normal use. A faulty cartridge, returned with its receipt, is assessed at our service desk at Old Mutual Building in Nairobi CBD by our own staff.
