One security tool for mixed office fleets, swapping heads to match whichever notebook lands on the desk.
Condition: New
Note: price and availability are subject to change without prior notice
Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock is now available at Mascom International for KSh 5,300, brand new and sealed under part number K62318WW. The Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock ships with three interchangeable heads that fit the standard Kensington slot, the Nano Security Slot and the wedge-shaped slot. A 1.8-metre carbon steel cable anchors the laptop, while a 5mm keyed cylinder with Hidden Pin technology resists picking. Two keys come on a ring that also carries the spare heads, so every attachment stays together in one place between uses. Collect yours at Old Mutual Building, First Floor Room 4, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD.
IT managers, procurement officers and school administrators running mixed laptop fleets face a frustrating problem. HP, Lenovo and Dell machines bought in different years often carry three different lock slots, so one lock type never fits every desk. The Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock removes that guesswork, because the right head clips on in seconds. Hospitals, county government offices, bank branches and university computer labs can standardise on the Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock and still protect every device they own, old or new.
Unlike single-slot locks that become useless when your next laptop changes design, this lock adapts as your hardware changes. Kensington, the company behind the original laptop security slot, built the keyed cylinder with patented Hidden Pin technology and a swivel joint that reduces strain on the slot. Lost keys can be replaced through Kensington's Register & Retrieve programme. IT teams across Nairobi tell us one universal lock simplifies stock, training and audits. Order the Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock today with pay-on-arrival delivery, or test each head in store.
Common Questions About the Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock
Which security slots does the Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock support?
The Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock supports three slot types: the standard Kensington slot, the Nano Security Slot and the wedge-shaped slot used on many recent Dell laptops. Each slot has its own matching head in the box. Together they cover the large majority of business laptops, monitors and docking stations sold in Kenya today. Laptops with no security slot at all need a different anchoring solution, which Mascom International can advise on over WhatsApp.
How do I switch between the three lock heads?
Switching heads on the Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock takes a few seconds and needs no tools. You unlock the cylinder with the key, detach the current head, fit the one that matches your laptop's slot, then lock it in place. The two unused heads clip onto the key ring, so they travel with the keys rather than getting lost in a drawer. Our Kimathi Street team will demonstrate each swap when you collect the lock.
Why choose this keyed lock over the Kensington Slim Portable Combination Lock K60625WW?
Choose the keyed 3-in-1 when slot coverage matters more than pocket size. The Kensington Slim Portable Combination Lock K60625WW fits only the standard slot, though it coils smaller and needs no key. The Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock fits three slot types and lets an IT office control access through physical keys. Organisations usually prefer keys because a departing employee cannot leave with a secret code, and the custodian can open any locked device when needed.
What happens if I lose the keys?
The Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock comes with two keys, so one can stay in a safe place as a backup. If both go missing, Kensington's Register & Retrieve programme supplies replacement keys once you have registered the key number. Record that number the day you open the box, ideally in an IT asset register. Mascom International can guide you through registration in store, which saves you from cutting the cable and buying a replacement lock later.
Is the Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock worth KSh 5,300?
Yes, if you own laptops with more than one slot type. Buying a standard-slot Kensington lock at KSh 4,500 and a NanoSaver at KSh 3,750 costs KSh 8,250, while this single lock costs KSh 5,300, saving KSh 2,950. It also future-proofs your purchase, since the next laptop you buy can still be secured. For a single laptop that never changes, a cheaper single-slot lock from Mascom International may serve you equally well.
Can an IT department deploy it across a mixed fleet?
Yes, the Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock is built for exactly that situation. One stock item covers HP, Lenovo and Dell machines with different slots, which simplifies procurement, inventory and staff training. Key numbers can be logged against each device in your asset register for audits. Mascom International supplies bulk quantities to offices in Upper Hill, Industrial Area and Westlands, plus county offices and schools nationwide, with volume pricing and coordinated delivery to several branches.
Does the keyed cylinder cope with dust and coastal humidity?
The Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock uses a steel cable inside protective plastic sheathing, which shields it from scratches and everyday grime. Kensington tests its locks against industry standards for durability and corrosion. In dusty offices along Mombasa Road or humid branches in Mombasa and Kisumu, keep the keyhole clean with a puff of air and avoid oiling it, since oil attracts dust. Store the spare heads on the key ring so they stay clean and ready.
How do I find out which slot my laptop has?
Look along the left, right or rear edge of the laptop for a small opening beside a padlock icon. A rectangle of roughly 7mm by 3mm is the standard slot, a much narrower opening is usually the Nano slot, and a tapered opening is the wedge slot. The Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock covers all three, so the exact answer matters less. For other locks, a WhatsApp photo to Mascom International gets you a confirmed match.
Who should buy the Kensington Universal 3-in-1 Keyed Laptop Lock, and who should skip it?
Buy it if you manage several laptops with different slots, or expect to change laptop brands within the next few years. Skip it if you carry a single laptop daily and want the smallest possible lock, because the Kensington MicroSaver 2.0 Keyed Portable Laptop Lock K64423WN self-coils for travel. Students who dislike carrying keys will find the Kensington Slim NanoSaver Portable Combination Lock K60627WW or the HP Combination Lock T0Y15AA easier for daily use.

- Nano head fits the narrower opening found on many thin and light laptops from recent product generations.
- Wedge head matches the wedge-shaped slot used on many recent Dell laptops, including popular business models.
- Unused heads clip onto the key ring, keeping all three attachments together and ready for the next device.
- Head changes need no tools, so IT staff can reassign the lock to a different laptop in seconds.
Keyed Cylinder and Locking Security
- 5mm cylindrical keyed lock uses patented Hidden Pin technology that resists picking and tampering attempts.
- Two keys are supplied on a key ring, giving one working key and one backup for safekeeping.
- Register & Retrieve programme replaces lost keys once the key number is registered with Kensington online.
- Physical keys let a custodian unlock any secured laptop, which suits shared and centrally managed devices.
- Keyed design means no combination to forget, share or guess, closing a common weakness in shared offices.
- Supports organisations following ISO/IEC 27001 Annex A controls on the physical security of equipment.
Cable Construction
- 1.8-metre cable reaches around desk legs, workstation frames and table supports in most office layouts.
- Carbon steel cable core resists snips, pliers and quick pulls by opportunistic thieves in busy spaces.
- Plastic sheathing over the steel protects desks, laptop finishes and conference tables from scratches.
- Swivel and rotating joint lets the cable turn freely, reducing strain on the slot when laptops move.
- Looped cable end allows the lock head to pass through, anchoring the laptop to any fixed object.
- Flexible cable lies neatly along desk edges, keeping workstations tidy in open-plan offices and computer labs.
Build Quality and Dimensions
- Locking head measures about 29 by 28.5 by 12.5mm, compact enough for most laptop side panels.
- Solid metal locking head resists twisting and prying when someone tries to force it out of the slot.
- Kensington tests its locks for strength, endurance, corrosion resistance and key durability against industry standards.
- Silver locking head with black cable gives a clean appearance that suits professional office settings.
- Sturdy construction handles repeated head changes and daily locking across years of departmental use.
- Compact transport box keeps the lock, heads and keys organised when stored in an IT cupboard.
Deployment and Workplace Use
- Ideal for mixed fleets in hospitals, banks, schools, county offices, NGOs and corporate head offices.
- One stock item replaces three single-slot locks, simplifying procurement, inventory and staff training.
- Key numbers can be logged against device asset tags, making internal and external audits easier.
- Visible locks deter theft from reception areas, training rooms, libraries and computer laboratories.
- Pairs well with encryption, strong passwords and remote-wipe tools for complete device protection.
- Anchor to heavy, fixed furniture, because light chairs and movable tables can be lifted clear.
