A roomy everyday notebook for students, home offices and first-time buyers who want Wi-Fi 7 and a numeric keypad on a sensible budget.
Condition: New
Note: price and availability are subject to change without prior notice
HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx is now available at Mascom International for KSh 87,000, brand new and sealed. It pairs the 12-core Intel Core Ultra 5 225U with 8GB of DDR5-5600 memory and a 512GB PCIe Gen4 SSD. The 16-inch 2K touchscreen runs at 1920 x 1200 with an anti-glare finish. Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and a 1080p webcam round out the package, and it weighs about 1.64kg. You can test the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx at our store in Old Mutual Building, First Floor Room 4, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD.
Built for university students, accountants, small-business owners and sales teams across Kenya, this machine solves a common problem: cramped 14-inch screens that slow down spreadsheet and report work. The HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx gives you a full-size keyboard with a numeric keypad, so KRA returns, invoices and stock sheets move faster. Its 45W USB-C charger reaches 50% in about 45 minutes, which matters when a power cut cuts your working window short. Students at the University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University and Strathmore get a screen large enough for two documents side by side. For coursework, church admin or a family laptop, the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx covers the daily load without paying for power you will not use.
Unlike other electronics retailers in Kenya that push older Core i3 stock at this price, Mascom International sells the current Intel Core Ultra generation with a built-in AI engine. Buyers throughout Kenya tell us the 16-inch touchscreen is the feature they miss most once they try it. We deliver countrywide with pay-on-arrival, so you inspect the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx before any money changes hands. Walk in, compare it against our other 16-inch models, and leave with the one that fits your work.
Common Questions About the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx
Is the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx a 2-in-1 that folds into a tablet?
No, the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx is a traditional clamshell laptop with a touchscreen, not a 360-degree convertible. You can tap, scroll and pinch on the 16-inch display, but the hinge does not fold flat into tablet mode. If you want a laptop that flips into a tablet for handwritten notes or presenting, look at the HP OmniBook X Flip 16-as0023dx at Mascom International. For typing-heavy work at a lower price, this clamshell design is the better value, and you avoid paying extra for a hinge you may never use.
Is 8GB of RAM enough on the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx?
Yes, 8GB of DDR5-5600 memory handles Microsoft Office, Chrome with 10 to 15 tabs, Zoom and M-Pesa business portals comfortably. Students writing assignments and accountants working in Excel will rarely hit a limit. HP lists the memory as non-upgradeable on this model, so plan for your needs now. If you run heavy Photoshop edits or keep dozens of browser tabs open all day, the HP OmniBook 5 16-af1017wm with 16GB is the safer choice at Mascom International.
How long does the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx battery last in Kenya?
The HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx carries a 41Wh battery that HP rates for all-day use on light office work. Expect a full morning of lectures or document work plus part of the afternoon at moderate brightness. The bigger win is charging speed. The included 45W USB-C charger restores about 50% in roughly 45 minutes, so a short coffee break during a KPLC outage gets you back to work. Any USB-C power bank rated 45W or higher can also top it up on a long matatu ride upcountry.
Is the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx good for university students?
Yes, the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx suits most Kenyan university courses that rely on Office, research and online classes. The 16-inch screen fits a PDF and your notes side by side. The 1080p webcam and dual microphones keep Zoom and Microsoft Teams lectures clear. At 1.64kg it is lighter than many 16-inch laptops, so carrying it between lecture halls stays manageable. Architecture and surveying students running AutoCAD or rendering software should step up to a model with dedicated graphics.
HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx vs Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15, which should you buy?
The HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx wins on screen size, wireless and camera. You get a 16-inch 2K touchscreen instead of a 15.6-inch Full HD panel, Wi-Fi 7 instead of Wi-Fi 6, and a 1080p webcam instead of the 720p units common on budget IdeaPads. The IdeaPad often costs a little less and may offer upgradeable memory. If you value a bigger workspace and faster networking that will stay relevant for years, the OmniBook is the stronger pick at Mascom International.
Does the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx handle Kenyan Wi-Fi and power conditions?
Yes, Wi-Fi 7 support means the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx takes full advantage of Safaricom Home Fibre, Zuku and Faiba routers, and it stays backward compatible with older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6 routers. The 45W USB-C charger is compact, and Mascom International supplies it with a Kenyan three-pin plug solution. Pair it with a small UPS or a 45W power bank if you work through frequent outages in Kitengela, Ruiru or Rongai.
Who should buy the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx, and who should skip it?
Buy the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx if you want a large-screen laptop for Office, browsing, online classes and light photo edits at KSh 87,000. It fits students, receptionists, shop owners and home users. Skip it if you edit video, play modern games or run AutoCAD or 3D design software. Those users need dedicated graphics, and the HP OmniBook 7 AI 16-ay0575cl with its NVIDIA RTX 4050 is the better Mascom International option.
What makes the Intel Core Ultra 5 225U in the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx worth having?
The Intel Core Ultra 5 225U brings 12 cores, 14 threads and a boost speed of up to 4.8GHz to the HP OmniBook 3 16-bu0305dx. It also includes an Intel AI Boost NPU rated at 12 TOPS. That NPU handles background blur, noise removal on calls and Windows AI features without draining the main processor. Everyday result: faster app launches than older Core i5 chips, and cooler, quieter running during long Excel sessions. It also means the laptop stays ready for new Windows AI tools as Microsoft releases them.
