Cyan is one of the three colour toners the printer blends to make every shade except black. Alone it prints a bright sky blue. Three reasons are common. Greens, navy text in letterheads and grey tones in photos all consume cyan, even when a page does not look blue. The printer also runs short colour calibrations after power-ups and cartridge changes, and each one uses a little toner from every colour.
