Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub | HDMI 4K 30Hz | 100W PD Charging Port | USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Ports

Sandblasted grey dongle linking classroom beamers, a mouse and the AC brick to recent Windows or Mac machines.

Condition: New

Note: price and availability are subject to change without prior notice

Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub is available at Mascom International for KSh 5,000, brand new and sealed, with an HDMI 4K 30Hz output, a USB-C Power Delivery port up to 100W, one USB 3.0 port and one USB 2.0 port. The Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub plugs into a single USB-C socket and splits it four ways, so one connection carries a display, two USB devices and your laptop charger. Its sandblasted, anodised aluminium shell comes in gray. You can handle it at our store in the Old Mutual Building, First Floor Room 4, Kimathi Street, Nairobi CBD.

Designed for lecturers, pastors, trainers, sales teams and university students, the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub handles the basic jobs a thin laptop can no longer do alone. Picture a Strathmore or Kenyatta University student arriving to present, only to find the room projector takes HDMI and the laptop has USB-C. Or a sales rep in a Westlands client office who needs a wired mouse, a flash drive and charging at the same time. This hub covers all three needs with one plug. It also turns a living-room TV into a big screen for spreadsheets, slides or YouTube.

Unlike other electronics retailers in Kenya that hand over unbranded adapters with no testing, Mascom International lets you try the genuine Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub on your own laptop before paying. Cheap copies often lose the HDMI picture when the charger is connected, or stop charging after a few weeks. Buyers throughout Kenya report that a dependable hub saves the embarrassment of a dead projector at the start of a meeting. Visit our Kimathi Street shop to test the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub, or order on WhatsApp and pay when it reaches you.

Common Questions About the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub

What is the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub price in Kenya?
The Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub sells for KSh 5,000 brand new at Mascom International in Nairobi CBD. That price includes a 6-month warranty and pay-on-arrival delivery to all 47 counties, so you can check the HDMI picture and charging before paying by cash or M-Pesa. Neither a charger nor an HDMI cable comes in the box. The Baseus UltraJoy 5-Port USB-C Hub costs the same, and the Baseus StarJoy 6-Port USB-C Hub costs KSh 500 more.

Is the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub or the Baseus UltraJoy 5-Port USB-C Hub the better buy at KSh 5,000?
The Baseus UltraJoy 5-Port USB-C Hub is the better buy if you use several USB drives, since it has three USB-A 3.0 ports against two USB-A ports here. Both hubs offer HDMI at 4K 30Hz and 100W charging pass-through at the same KSh 5,000. On the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub, one USB-A socket runs at the slower USB 2.0 speed. Choose Metal Gleam if a mouse and one flash drive cover your needs and you like its sandblasted finish.

Why does the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub have one USB 3.0 port and one USB 2.0 port?
The Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub pairs a fast USB 3.0 port for storage with a USB 2.0 port for slower accessories. The USB 3.0 port reaches 5Gbps, which suits flash drives, portable SSDs and external hard drives. The USB 2.0 port runs at 480Mbps, more than enough for a mouse, keyboard, wireless receiver or printer. Plug storage into the 3.0 port and accessories into the 2.0 port, and neither device slows the other.

Which charger should I plug into the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub?
Use your laptop's own USB-C Power Delivery charger with the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub; the PD port accepts up to 100W. It supports 5V, 9V, 14.5V and 20V at up to 5A, which covers standard laptop, tablet and phone chargers. A 65W charger suits most ultrabooks, and a 96W or 100W charger suits larger MacBook Pro models. The hub keeps a little of that power for itself, so the laptop receives slightly less than the charger's rating.

Can I connect my laptop to a TV with the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub?
Yes, the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub connects your laptop to any TV with an HDMI input, at up to 4K resolution and 30Hz. That works well for watching Showmax, Netflix or YouTube on a big screen, and for family photo slideshows. A 30Hz picture is smooth enough for films and slides but not for fast gaming. Your laptop's USB-C port must carry video, called DisplayPort Alt Mode, for the HDMI output to work. Most recent MacBooks, EliteBooks and ThinkPads support it.

How does the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub cope with heat and dust in Kenya?
The Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub uses a sandblasted, anodised aluminium shell that spreads warmth better than the plastic adapters common in Kenyan markets. That matters on hot afternoons in Mombasa or Kisumu, when charging pass-through and a 4K signal make any hub run warm. Dust settling in the ports is the more common cause of loose connections, so blow them clean every few weeks. Keep the hub out of direct sun on a car dashboard during a long drive upcountry.

Will the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub work on a 2016-2018 MacBook Pro?
Yes, Baseus lists the 2016, 2017 and 2018 MacBook Pro models among the laptops the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub supports. Those MacBook Pro models carry only Thunderbolt 3 ports, so the hub restores HDMI and full-size USB-A without a separate dongle for each. It also runs on Windows, Linux and Chrome OS, which covers most Chromebooks used in Kenyan schools. Many owners of these older Macs in Nairobi buy it to keep their HDMI projector and USB printer working.

Who should buy the Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub, and who should skip it?
The Baseus Metal Gleam 4-Port USB-C Hub suits presenters, teachers and travellers who need HDMI, charging, a mouse and a flash drive from one USB-C port. Church media teams and trainers who connect to a different projector each week also find it handy. Skip it if you run three or more USB drives together; the Baseus UltraJoy 5-Port USB-C Hub has three fast USB-A ports. Skip it too if your desk uses wired internet, because the Baseus StarJoy 6-Port USB-C Hub adds Gigabit Ethernet.

Technical Specifications

Core Function and Port Layout
  • HDMI output at up to 4K and 30Hz — connects one monitor, TV or projector for slides, documents and films.
  • USB-C Power Delivery port up to 100W — your laptop charger plugs in here and keeps charging while you work.
  • One USB 3.0 port at up to 5Gbps — the right socket for flash drives, portable SSDs and external hard drives.
  • One USB 2.0 port at up to 480Mbps — handles a mouse, keyboard, wireless receiver or USB printer without trouble.
  • Four connections from a single USB-C plug — frees the laptop's other ports for a phone cable or second device.

Charging and Power Handling
  • Supported charging voltages of 5V, 9V, 14.5V and 20V — matches standard USB-C PD chargers from laptop and phone makers.
  • Peak current of 5A — at 20V that equals the full 100W rating used by larger laptops.
  • Input voltage range of 5V to 20V — the hub adapts to whatever compatible charger you connect.
  • Pass-through design — the laptop, the hub and both USB devices all run from the one wall socket.
  • Hub keeps a small share of power — expect the laptop to receive slightly less than the charger's full rating.

Compatibility and Device Support
  • Works with Windows, macOS, Linux and Chrome OS — plug and play, with no driver to download or install.
  • Supports 2016, 2017 and 2018 MacBook Pro models — restores HDMI and USB-A on Macs with Thunderbolt 3 ports only.
  • Fits newer USB-C laptops including MacBook Air, HP EliteBook, Lenovo ThinkPad and Dell Latitude models.
  • HDMI needs a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt — look for a display or lightning icon.
  • USB 3.0 port is backward compatible with USB 2.0 — older flash drives and card readers work at their own speed.

Build and Finish
  • Aluminium alloy body — spreads warmth away from the circuitry during long sessions with charging and 4K output running.
  • Sandblasted, anodised surface — resists fingerprints and light scuffs from daily handling in bags and on desks.
  • Gray colour — suits silver and grey laptops; confirm the shade in stock on WhatsApp before ordering.
  • Compact four-port layout — slips into a laptop sleeve pocket for lecture halls, boardrooms and client visits.
  • Metal shell over plastic — holds up better to knocks in a backpack during a daily matatu or boda boda commute.
