Condition: New
Note: price and availability are subject to change without prior notice
Apex Legends is available at Mascom International as a PS4 physical disc edition for KSh 3,700, brand new and sealed, in stock at our Nairobi CBD shop. Developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, Apex Legends is a team-based battle royale shooter. To be clear from the start: the base game is free-to-play on PlayStation Store. What you pay for here is the physical disc edition, which bundles bonus in-game content on top of the free game. Pick it up at the Old Mutual Building, First Floor Room 4, Kimathi Street, or order delivery.
Built for competitive players and friend groups across Kenya, Apex Legends drops squads onto a large map where they loot weapons, armour and gear, then battle until one team remains. Each legend has unique abilities, from scouting enemies to healing teammates, so teamwork matters as much as aim. Plenty of shooters reward lone players who rush ahead. In Apex Legends, a squad that talks and plays its abilities together usually outlasts faster but scattered rivals. University students at Moi or the University of Nairobi, gaming crews in Kilimani and anyone who enjoys evening matches with friends will find fresh rounds every time.
Unlike other electronics retailers in Kenya that list Apex Legends discs without explaining the free download, Mascom International tells you exactly what the disc edition offers. Buyers throughout Kenya pick it as a gift, since a boxed game with bonus content is easier to wrap than store credit, or to unlock cosmetics without paying for them separately. Editions vary in the bonus content they carry, so confirm which edition is on the shelf with our team on WhatsApp before you order. Visit Kimathi Street to see the sealed case, or have it delivered with payment on arrival.
Common Questions About the Apex Legends
How much is the Apex Legends PS4 disc in Kenya?
The Apex Legends PS4 physical disc edition costs KSh 3,700 at Mascom International in Nairobi, brand new and sealed. The base game itself is free-to-play on PlayStation Store, so the price pays for the boxed edition and the bonus in-game content it bundles. It also includes a 6-month warranty on the disc and pay-on-arrival delivery to all 47 counties. Ask our team on WhatsApp which edition is in stock and what bonus content it carries before you buy.
Is Apex Legends free on PS4, and why buy the disc?
Yes, Apex Legends is free-to-play, and anyone can download the base game on PS4 from PlayStation Store at no cost. The disc edition is worth it only if you want the bonus in-game content it bundles, a boxed game to give as a gift, or a copy to keep on the shelf. If you only want to try the game, the free download is enough. Mascom International sells the disc for buyers who value those extras, and we say so plainly.
Do I need PS Plus to play Apex Legends online?
No, Apex Legends does not need a PlayStation Plus membership on PS4, because Sony lets free-to-play games run online without one. The game does need a constant internet connection for every match, including practice. A stable Safaricom Home Fibre or Airtel home fibre line works well, and a cable from the router to the PS4 cuts lag in fast fights. Mobile hotspots can work, but matches use data steadily and a weak signal causes drops mid-game.
Does the Apex Legends disc work on PS5?
Yes, the Apex Legends PS4 disc plays on PS5 consoles that have a disc drive, through Sony's backward compatibility. It does not run on a PS5 without a disc drive. Sony advises that the PS5 may need its latest system software, and some PS4 features may be missing. Your progress and unlocked items are tied to your online account rather than the disc, so they stay with you if you move from PS4 to PS5.
Will a KPLC power cut hurt my Apex Legends progress?
A KPLC power cut ends the Apex Legends match you are playing, but your unlocked legends, skins and account level stay safe on EA's online servers. Leaving a match early can count against you, so a sudden blackout is frustrating more than costly. Many Kenyan gamers run their PS4 and router on a UPS, which keeps the connection alive through short outages. A UPS also protects the console's storage from damage caused by sudden power loss.
How does Apex Legends compare with Fortnite?
Apex Legends and Fortnite are both free battle royale games, but Apex Legends focuses on hero abilities and gunplay, while Fortnite adds building structures in the middle of fights. Choose Apex Legends if you like fast movement, teamwork and characters with set roles such as healer or scout. Choose Fortnite if you enjoy building, a cartoon art style and a game that younger players often already know. Both are free downloads, so many players try each before spending money.
Is Apex Legends suitable for children?
Apex Legends carries a PEGI 16 rating in Europe and an ESRB Teen rating for violence and blood, so it suits older teenagers and adults. The game has open voice chat with strangers, and online players can be rude, so parents should review the PS4's parental controls first. Those settings let you limit chat, spending and play time. Younger children are usually better suited to a family-rated game, while older teens can enjoy squad play with friends safely set up.
Who should buy Apex Legends and who should skip it?
The Apex Legends disc suits players who want the free game plus bundled bonus content, or someone buying a boxed gift for a squad shooter fan. It suits homes with reliable fibre, since every match is online. Skip it if your internet is unreliable, because nothing in Apex Legends plays offline. Skip the disc too if you only want to try the game, since the free download gives you the same base game. Offline story fans are better served by a single-player title.
Technical Specifications
Gameplay and Legends

- Each legend carries unique abilities such as scouting, healing or setting traps — your choice shapes how your squad plays.
- Ping system lets you mark enemies, weapons and locations without a microphone — teammates understand you even with voice chat off.
- Weapons, armour and attachments are found during each match — every round starts fresh, so skill counts more than spending.
- Regular seasons bring new legends, maps and events — the game keeps changing long after you first install it.
Modes and Players
- Online multiplayer only — every match, including practice, needs a working internet connection.
- Squad play for teams of three, with a duos option for two players — queue with friends or match with strangers.
- Cross-play supported with players on other platforms — larger matchmaking pools and the chance to team up with PC friends.
- Rotating limited-time modes alongside the main battle royale — shorter matches suit evenings with less time.
- Rated PEGI 16 and ESRB Teen for violence and blood — best for older teens and adults.
Online and Account Requirements
- Free-to-play base game on PlayStation Store — the disc edition adds bundled bonus in-game content on top.
- No PlayStation Plus membership needed for online play — Sony lets free-to-play games run online without one.
- Requires an EA account linked to your PSN account — set it up on first launch to save progress.
- Progress, legends and skins are stored online — your account follows you to any PS4 or PS5 you sign in on.
- In-game store sells cosmetics with Apex Coins — optional purchases that do not change weapon power.
PS4 and PS5 Compatibility
- Runs on the original PS4, PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro — any working PS4 with an internet connection plays it.
- Plays on PS5 consoles with a disc drive through backward compatibility — the disc runs as the PS4 version.
- Sony notes some PS4 features may be missing on PS5 — update the PS5 system software before the first match.
- Does not run on a PS5 without a disc drive — the disc must be inserted to start this copy.
- Account-based progress carries across consoles — moving from PS4 to PS5 does not reset your unlocks.
Disc and Installation
- Physical Blu-ray disc in a sealed retail case — insert it and the PS4 installs the game from the disc.
- Expect a large update on first launch — Apex Legends changes each season, so the console downloads the current version.
- Plan the first download on home fibre rather than a mobile bundle — the update can use a lot of data.
- Bonus content from the edition is unlocked on your account — confirm which edition is in stock before ordering.
- Retail box makes a ready gift — easier to wrap and hand over than a store top-up.
